Hi awesome Warrior,

I would like to know if your signature in the any forum that you are participating, helps in link building strategies and hence SEO?

Also, How about your email signature?

What do you think?

I doubt it would help, most forums would be "no follow" at any rate as they cannot vouch for what is being discussed, i know i would not use do follow on my message boards.

I cannot see any benefit whatsoever personally, apart from you might get a little traffic if someone is curious to see what the link is.

There are people out there who still preach about forum signature links, but I have yet to see any proof.

Plain logic on this one dictates that it would be very easy for Google to discount forum signature links, even if that forum set them as do-follow (no forum I know of does this).

No it doesn't but a link in the forum post does.

Besides, some forums have it set that only members can see signatures and not guests or google bot so a link there doesn't exist in eyes of Google. Make sure you notice that

forum links from say here.. I have in excess of 2000 posts and that means there are potentially 2000 links with the exact same link text... there is NO WAY that could be good.

Wrong, forum links are for traffic only as they are NoFollow.

Forum signature links are usually nofollow, so most of them won't contribute anything to your site. Email signature links are useless because Google cannot see links in your emails.

It helps, but from my experience it's not a game changer.

Signature links are good for traffic if there is someone got interested in you and click on your signature, that's what I've noticed so far.

Yes it can help, if you try on do-follow forums. It won't help you, if you try on no-follow forums.

Wow, You guys are AWESOME! Much Appreciate it!

    Hence, In Summary:
    a) Forum signature is a NOFOLLOW link - Therefore it doesn't help in SEO and link building strategy
    b) Link in your Forum Post is a DOFOLLOW link - Therefore it does help in SEO and link building
    c) Email signature - not at all!

    Wonderful sharing!

    What do you think?
That will bring some value to your SEO only as a diversification of links, which google likes it a lot!

Forum signatures links help in so far it is indexed by google and other search engines is do follow.

Emails definitely don't help because emails aren't indexed by google and other search engines.

I think forum signatures are a good way to get some traffic or show people what services/products you offer but in terms of link-building using forum signatures I think your time is better spent link-building other ways.

There is actually a Google Doc that talks about this specifically and I right now cant find the dang thing. but the essence of it was that Google was suggesting with forum links and links in general that you were unsure of the value, that you use YOUR NAME as the link text.

We have to keep in mind here for a number of years Google was very keen on developing "Author Rank". Bringing twitter back into the fold of all of this I think is going to make this issue a bit more paramount here in the next six months.

A forum link is no different than any other no follow with one major exception. Like I have stated before you have to keep in mind using this forum and my signature as an example I have in excess of 2000 exact matching text links pointing to that page. that simply can not be good if you believe no follow has any amount of ranking power or not.

The key I believe with this issue is the at you want to focus on the CONTEXT of the forum you are linking from. if you are selling IM crap ( I sell im crap so I can say that! LOL ), then yes this forum would be a good choice. if you are selling used cars? not so good.

Your forum signature definitely won't help in link building or SEO. I think from my own experience, I probably got a few clink here and there on my forum signature, even buying affiliates offer through the link is next to the impossible!

Not sure about whether forum signature still pass 'juice' to your site or not despite it's a dofollow.
However, posting in the forum which has the same niche as your website does help when real people see your signature.

It doesn't much to your website. As others have already said, most forums are nofollow and Google doesn't consider links in your email. Unless your post is interesting enough to catch someone's attention and make them curious about the link on your signature. They will click on that and you will get a little traffic. There's more SEO strategies than forum engagement such as link building strategies. However, forums dedicated to digital marketing such as warrior would be very helpful especially if you're a beginner.
