Wordpress Pingback Question

Hi Warriors,

I have a question about Pingback/Trackback links.. Would these links affect my SEO Ranking?

I'll set a scenario:

I'm Website A and I created an article, then I linked my article to Website B's article. A Pingback showed on Website B's page source, displaying my url.

Would this scenario also benefit my website(Website A) or article? Or just benefit Website B's article?

Is my post clear? I'd be willing to change my wordings if necessary..

    I wouldn't advise on Pingbacks. Spammers have found a way to abuse the pingback. If Website B is spammy/content scraper, then the low quality spam pingbacks will hurt Website A.

    A pingback is a type of comment that's created when you link to another blog post where pingbacks are enabled. The best way to think about pingbacks is as remote comments: Person A posts something on his blog.

    This depends on where they come from. If they are from spammy websites, you better remove them, if they're from other bloggers who simply liked your idea and decided to "award" you a link, then it's helpful. Especially if it's do follow.

    Pingbacks are mostly considered spam. Even a single spam pingback can hurt your blog's SEO ranking in search engines like Google. You should eliminate any chance of a SEO rank downgrade. Google does not honor the "nofollow" tag on links like they used to.

    If pingbacks don't bring you any additional traffic, and can hurt your SEO rank, then it is best to save yourself the headache by turning them off.

    I would suggest you to use some plugin to remove pingback such as remove-pingback-trackback-comments
