Do Press Releases help improve rankings ? Any experience anyone

Hi

I read some blogs, where they say to do a press release for niche sites.
Has anyone any experience if it helps improve rankings ?

I am talking about the press release gigs on source wave marketplace and they distribute your press release to over 300 news sites. About half of them pickup and your niche site gets around 150 backlinks.

    Yes, press releases (with your dofollow backlink (s) ) will help to improve rankings. Press releases are also great because, when submitted to a lot of news sites, they bring in a lot of targeted traffic to your site. So, press releases are good for both increasing rankings and drawing in traffic.

      I am not looking for media reviews and ratings. Its a niche site for making money using amazon affiliate program. I just need google rankings.

    Then go with building web2.0 sites according to me! Don't waste time using PR for this niche... People mostly use PR for traffic, as they are mostly nofollow...
