I just used Paul`s backlinks and saw that most of the pages
where the links were placed had 0 PR.

I remember to have heard that, what is important is
the PR of the root domain.

So if the root domain is PR 7, does the link on the
inner page enjoy from that, Or...?

  • Let me clear something up that people who understand SEO already know.

PAGE RANK IS NOT SITE RANK.

Think about the implications of that... Google values the content on a page by page basis. It's not horseshoes and hand grenades where being close is okay.

A page without Page Rank can not pass Page Rank.

    Clear?

      Hi runner,

Whenever you create a new web page, which is what you are doing when you create a profile page, it starts off with no PR. As the search engines discover links to that new page it is passed a portion of PR from those links. The reason folks look for profile pages on websites that have high homepage PR is that the homepage will link to internal pages and pass some of that link juice to those inner pages.

If the internal link structure is favorable, then that new profile page will inherit a small portion of the PR that is being distributed to inner pages. Of course, if you were able to get your link on a page with higher PR then your link will have have more weight. There are other factors, like how many other OBL's on the same page that further dilute your link juice.

You need to look at the overall systemic value to determine the merit of an individual link. Most folks don't want to work that hard at figuring it out, so they just focus one or two factors to judge the merit of a link placement. Some of those links provide little or no benefit, but if you sling enough mud at the wall some of it will stick.

I have my own ideas when looking for backlinks. It does not matter to me if a site have any Google page ranking as long as the linking page does not have spammy links and adult materials. Otherwise PR is useless - what you should be looking for is good content and how you move up on any SERP.

    Good luck
