Question on Bookmarking..

As I understand it, you can use bookmarking to get some backlink juice for your articles or site. Bookmarking is relatively new to me, so perhaps I misunderstand the purpose behind it.

Being relatively new to IM I've been researching things the past few months, taking and comparing notes and then trying what seems to be the right things to do looking for a small sliver of evidence that what I'm doing are the correct things.

Before I start publishing to a few more article directories, I thought I would go back and fix what I already had out there. I went to a 'goarticle' page I have and updated the content to be unique vs being the same article I submitted to 2 other directories.

I used pingomatic on the article, then to DIGG to bookmark the article again since the original submission (30+ days ago). DIGG came back saying the article URL had been widely reported by users for the following reasons: ...

I'm still learning the ropes, so that doesn't phase me, but is this common now days for bookmarking articles?

If we're spinning or writing unique articles and publishing to several directories, the goal is to gain as many backlinks as possible to help with getting your site to page 1.

My questions:
1. Should we only bookmark the article URL on our web site?
2. Is this method obsolete with bookmarking sites cracking down on this technique?
3. Is bookmarking for long term backlinks or short term traffic bursts?
4. Is bookmarking for simply getting your site indexed? Should a site be indexed before you bookmark it?
5. Would submitting the URL to a burst site like wwwDOTsocialposterDOTcom hurt your site (deindexing?) or it's position if you blast it out to every site on the list?

My ezine article is on page 1, spot 3, so the keywords are not competitive. The free blog site is falling in the SERPs, was #495 at one point and last I checked today it's now at #661 and falling. I'm just trying to learn the right techniques to raise it so I focus on the right systems.

For me, I do social bookmarking mainly to help NEWLY created sites get indexed by SEs.

Well, I'm just splashing in the water at this point looking for a sign of life. It seems every time I read about something, there are 50 more posts that spin the purpose behind it. It's nice to get feedback on the warrior forums with the latest scoop.

Try to Write a new article and submit it to your chosen site e.g.:

    - Ezinearticles.
    - Goarticles
    - HubPages
    - blogger ...etc...

Any web 2.0 site will do.

After doing this ping it the same day using, pingomatic, pingler and some others... (i have a huge list)

Try to do this for approximately 5 articles a day.

on the second day, Social bookmark these articles. (make sure they are FRESH and UNIQUE) use sites such as digg, furl, delicious, etc.... (if they reject you, dont worry )

On the third day, submit your articles to RSS feeds. This is very very helpful.

you wont see results till about 2 weeks depending on your niche. However, if you can write or outsource 10 - 20 articles a day then your looking at profits of $100/day with good keyword research etc...

Hope this helps you, and others out there....

2 questions, if anyone can answer..

      ## Question 1
      ##

How many days do you generally crank out 5 articles a day, before moving to the next niche? Considering you don't get "immediate" results in the search engines, would be nice to have a pace to run at.

      ##

      Let's say..

      Day 1, Step 1:
      1. Create a new Blogger site, publish 1 unique article
      2. Create WordPress site, publish 1 unique article
      3. Create HubPages site, publish 1 unique article
      4. Publish to Ezine 1 unique article
      5. Publish to GoArticles 1 unique article

      Day 1, Step 2:
Ping all the sites that contain the articles

      Day 2, Step 1:
Social Bookmark the sites created on Day 1

      ##
      ## Question 2
      ##

      Day 2, Step 2:
When working with Blogger, WordPress, HubPages, etc. would you publish the next unique article to the same site(s) created on day 1, or create new sites surrounding the keywords and publishing the next unique article there (possibly even creating a link wheel as you branch out each day)?

      ##

... (follow the rest of the plan)
