    one thing that people havent mentioned is

    you have 100000's of people with the same objective and if this happened over night then SEO wouldnt be a hot topic.

    good quality copy, url's and descriptions on everything and look for decent backlinks from various sites.
    social media marketing helps drive people and if you have great copy.....then the site scrapers will come into play seeing people want to also 'pad out' their sites....often with content from other sites.

    just make sure you content is relevant to your site and niche and constantly update your content once or twice a week to keep the bots coming back

      Absolutely, but if you build links everyday, the Google bots should find links to your site on a regular basis.. After you have been working for a month or so, you should be starting to see some results..

        SEO really takes time so keep on doing backlinking. There are also plenty of factors affecting SEO (On-page SEO, Off-page SEO/Backlinking - and making sure you put the proper anchor text, Meta tags, etc.) Lots of tools out there that can guide you in doing the right thing.

        In 1-3 months time (from posting) your backlinks will be recognized by search engines and your site's rankings should increase.

        Quality content is also important.
