My website which was not in google serps for 2 weeks is now back, I thought it was due to backlinks which I made from some high pr websites.
Everyone said that you should not build your backlinks very fast else google will penalise you but this is not the case. My website was not in serps because of duplicate content issue I recently changed the url of my posts to optimize my site as a result google indexed the same post with new url and my post with old url was also in there index.
So google thought that it was a duplicate content that means same post on two different urls. So I deleted the old url from google's index with the help of webmaster tools and now as soon as that old url is removed my website is back.
I wanted to share this with other warriors who think building backlinks too fast could be a reason for there site not appearing in serps but this is not always the case.
Whenever you see something like this that your website is not in the serps the first and foremost thing you need to do is check you website not your links because you have no control on the links that you are getting and google knows that well.
You should check that you are not doing these things:
1. Duplicate content in google index that means same content on two different urls, you can check this by typing site:yourwebsite.
2. You are not passing your pagerank to any of your links that means if you are an affiliate or have lot of banner ads on your website then you need to make sure that all those links are nofollow.
3. Check your robot.txt file and make sure your pages are not blocked, for those who dont know what robot.txt is its a file on a website which tells search engine bots or crawler which pages are blocked from indexing.
4. Make sure your page is clean and it has no html errors which is preventing google bot from crawling your pages.
5. Make sure you don't have a noindex meta tag on your pages.
6. Remove all the spammy links which are just there to pass your pagerank nothing else and they dont benefit your visitors.
So, from now onwards before blaming your links check out these few things on your website and if any of these are present correct it and I hope your website will be back again.
