Hello Warriors,

I have submitted my site to over 20 directories I found on another board a couple of weeks ago. I have not got one back link from all my submissions. I have however received some back links from blogs, articles and forum posts.

Can someone tell me why I am not getting directory back links .

Thanks in advance

    SanMarino,

First thing to consider is that most "directories" do not offer instant inclusion. Many better directory owners will verify links if they can, or at the least will have some measures to prevent "spammy" links from clogging up the works.

Also, your links from the directory also depend on the directory itself. If you are posting to little know or rarely visited directories, then the pages might not get indexed that often, even should your link be approved right away.

I have a link directory, which on a bad day might only get a couple of links, and on good days might get a few hundred. Today I got 9 new links to approve. but I still have 1300+ pending ones to approve.

If you want to I can PM you (OR ANY Warrior Forum members) and I will give you one free Featured listing. ( I do not promote with this directory, so you will not get any spam from me on it ) ;-)

There are some sites that maintain lists of active directories where they are approving links etc. That would be a good place to start. Directory Critic would be a good starting point.

Did you receive notice that your submissions were approved?

Did the directories have PR on inside pages?

Most directories are waste of time. Some are well worth the submission cost. It all depends on the directories you used.

Hoftuna I did receive emails that submissions were approved but no back links as of yet. I got the list from another forum. I agree with you that that list was a waste of time. I am still learning what works and what doesn't. This forum is a great source of info.

One thing you can do is do a search for your competitors backlinks. If they are lsited in a directory and its showing in their backlinks, there is no reason why you can not get that link.

Good point, especially if it is a recent link. There are some directories that are always monitoring submissions. Usually those are a little pickier. And then there are some who only monitor their directory part time and may not always approve all the good submissions. If you pay for a link review the chances of getting in increase to nearly 100% in most case.
