My site is nowhere on Google, I think it should be.

Hello

Thank you for looking.

I have built what I think is a worthy high content website (gold-vault.com).

Onsite optimization is good, I worked hard on that, and I have been getting incoming links from my blogs and other means.

But it features nowhere in Google.

I look at the results on page 5 and the sites that are listed are nowhere near as relevant and what I call worthy as my own.

Can you throw light on this please?

Also one other question.

Allthough the number of visitors to the site has hardly increased, despite 4 months of link building, article writing & forum posting, the number of sales has increased very noticably.

Can you think of a reason for that?

Thank you.

Richard

How old is your site? Have your pages and site been indexed? Give it time and you will slowly creep up the serps if your site provides good and fresh original content.

yes,you need to give Google some time before their Spider indexes your website, the initial Indexing would take time, but after that Google's spider will be a frequent visitor to your site.

I had a visit on your site right now and it shows a PR 3,that means your website is Indexed and Liked by Google,Cheers

and one more thing, your site is ranked 3 on the Keyword "Gold-vault" on Google.
Best of luck, you seem doing well.

        Thank you for your replies.

The site is about 4 years old, but it is only in the last 6 months that I have worked hard at inbound links and on site optimization.

Some time ago I had to rename most of the file names of the site, after which I had help with a page 301 redirect.

Yes I can see the site shows up when you use "gold-vault" as the search term, but Where is the site when I use my main search term...gold leaf.

        Thank you for your assistance.

        Very much appreciated.

        Richard

P.S. Sequincer: You said "I had a visit on your site right now and it shows a PR 3"

Can you explain how you did this please? I mean how did you find out the PR by visiting the site?

If you have the google toolbar installed you can see the pagerank of the site.
Looking over your site, you have good page titles:
    site:www.gold-vault.com/ - Google Search
I think you have done a decent job from an SEO standpoint. What you probably should work on now is marketing your site, and building better ways for people to interact on your site.

Thank you again for your replies.

dvduval, thank you for pointing out the search results using "23 carat gold leaf"

Unfortunately using wordtracker I see there are no searches for that keyword phrase

But what keeps bugging me is when I do a search using my primary keyword phrase "gold leaf" I am nowhere to be found and I am as certain as I can be my site has huge relevance to that keyword.

Thanks for the kind words about the page titles etc, I looked and learned and put into practice what I read, plus Xsite pro helped me to do the on site optimization.

    Richard

P.S. dvduval...the link you gave to Google...do the pages appear in order of their page rank?

      Hi edenworkshops,

You simply have too much competition for the keyword "gold leaf". You need to keep working on content and backlinks to eventually catch up to your competitors.

You show up on page 15 in Google for "imitation gold leaf" and "gold leaf techniques". You are on page 5 and 3 for Yahoo and page 2 and #1 in Live for those respective keywords.

You are on page 5 for "gold leaf in Live. You just need to keep at it to catch up with your competitors.

        Hi,
just wanted to drop a few thoughts of my own about your problem. The thing is, nowadays Google really loves video content sites, blogs and social networking sites, Google crawls those sites hundreds of times an hour, and Google will list the same video multiple times on the front page as long as it is posted at different video sharing sites and different social networks. What I would suggest is that you create videos on a regular basis, post it to Youtube, and all the other video sharing sites like Google video and etc., you can use TubeMogul to speed things up, create a blog and post your video content there also, link your youtube videos to your site, create profiles on social networking sites and post your videos there, post content in those profiles, create interlinking between your blog, your site, youtube, etc., it will speed up the whole SEO process.

If the links to your site from the other sources are the same as the links in your ezinearticles articles, it's no wonder you aren't ranking for "gold leaf", because all your articles, and the 6-7 other links I checked out link to your site using your domain name, or something other than gold leaf. If you want to rank for gold leaf, your must get links to the page you want to rank for gold leaf using gold leaf in the anchor text. From what I can tell, you aren't.

    Hi Richard,

Stop the presses! You're getting some innaccurate advice. :|

I've been doing seo for about seven years and get page one rankings on google in a day with less than an hour of work. Most people are being told wrong info and I prove it all the time!

I have a wso coming this Thursday for One Hour Google- How I Got a Top Page Rank on Google in One Day with Less Than One Hour of Work! and will be happy to let you know when it's live if you send me a pm. In the meantime, don't do all the extra work you're hearing! It's really not necessary.

    Hope this helps.

#1 for part of your title:

      "Antique Distressed Finishes"

For "Gold Leaf", May take a little time to fight thru all the results for WOW, and gold investment.

It has something to do with your competition. You have lots of competition to that keyword that is older and has more back links than your site.

Once again thank you for your replies.

    Don Burk:

I did wonder if it was simply down to doing more off site optimization, but I have looked at the pages on page 4/5/6 of Google and they do not have the relevance of mine, neither are many of them optimized at all, neither do they have the number of incoming links that I have.

When I do a search for "goldleaf" (no space) the site turns up on page 5, I think this is Google auto correcting, but I must still wonder why when I use the search term "gold leaf" I am nowhere to be found.

But i take your point and will continue to work on content and backlinks, thank you.

    ZelimirGraf:

I found the whole of your reply very useful, I will be thinking of your ideas in the future, thank you.

    blackhatcat:

I am not sure I understand you.

Regarding the ezine articles you mentioned, are you referring to the html link in the resource box? If so I was not aware I could do anything but enter my website address?

    Mike Cowles:

    Nothing like a bold entrance.

Of course I will try this, but I see hidden complications, let's see how it goes.

    Eric Lorence:

I take your point, there is a lot of glitz and glamour around gold leaf, comes down to more backlinks I guess.

    Thank you all again.

    Richard
