301 redirect from a blog to a site

Hi there

I just purchased the 301 redirect to redirect my wordpress blog to a site. Just want to know as this service is not once off, it is $12 per year. I understand that all the backlinks of my blog will be redirected to my site. So eventually my site should be back to the same ranking as my blog (hopefully).

However, what will happen after a year? Do I have to keep this redirection service alive? What if I don't renew the 301 redirect service? Will my site ranking drop back to where it is now?

Please advise.

thanks

If you have backlinks for your old blog ( which is hosted on wordpress ) and you want those backlinks stay for your new domain too, yes you should renew 301 redirect service but if you don't want those backlinks, you can stop renewing it.

Just wondering how long would I need to wait for redirection to take effect?
Now that when I type in my wp blog in the address bar it will automatically redirect to my new website.

But the main purpose of the redirection is that I want my money site to show up in the same ranking as my wp blog. Just wondering how long would this take?
