Adsense - is it too late?

Hi Everyone.

I would be really interested to hear your view on this. I have been 'dabbling' in adsense for a while - hubpages and a few blogs etc. I didn't have much success but think I've now cracked it and am properly up to speed with keywords and the various backlinking approaches.

My goal is to do this as a part-time thing (but am happy to outsource and gear up once I see it is working) and to earn, say, £500 a month from adsense.

The question is whether this is still possible for someone starting effectively from scratch now. A lot of the niches or good keywords are already being hammered with matched domains etc so I am worried that I am just to late and will never be able to get a good return for my money.

I am currently working on an authority site, I have had articles up for a few months now so just about to begin backlinking properly.

Does anyone on here genuinely make several hundreds of pounds (or dollars) a month from adsense alone? and how long did it take? I would love to hear from anyone who started quite recently and can already provide some positive news to spur me on.

  • Not only is it possible, it's wide open. Yes, I make more than that from Adsense alone, much more. My partner does. Plenty of marketers on my forum do. Plenty of people on this forum do.

  • We started in December as a side-project and should make just under $2,000 USD in April. It's profitable, but takes quite a bit of work and some good organization to make it work.

    While this has been going on for years and years, many more people fail at if compared to those that find success, from what I've seen. Most of those let their domains expire and are then available for you again the next year to make it work!

    Plus all the untapped niches, new products/niches that come out, etc.

    • Yes, it is still possible. It is much harder now if you work with popular niches but it isn't too late in general.




      Matched domain is not everything. Getting on the first page of Google for a specific keyword depends on a number of factors. Your domain is just one of the them.

      Do not run after expensive and popular niches and keywords and you'll find something decent. If your site pays for its own your domain and hosting and brings a little extra money it's already a sucess. Use this approach and multiply it.

      It is much easier to make 20 mini sites that bring $50 a month each then one large site that brings 1000 per month alone. This site would have to have a lot of original content. It would have to be based on expensive and competitive keywords. It would also require significant SEO efforts.


  • We've gone with niche sites, with a plan to build out those that seem to be sticking well and driving traffic.

    We're bumping production up to 100/month starting in April (this month) and are selling some of the sites on Flippa to give the project cash flow to afford the new sites.

    It's easier for us as we run an outsourcing company in the Philippines, having direct access to that cheap labor without having to hire a company to do it for us. We just use agents that aren't currently attached to a "paying" project or customer.

    Our process is virtually the same as many of the others around here...we set it up based on what I read through the various posts.

    It's the same we use, I just do one extra search every once in a while and slap it on that post for the hell of it.

    Couple of things we do:
    - EXACT match domains
    - base traffic on exact searches...try to be around 1k/month...less if cpc is ok
    - unique content, no autobloggin
    - Wordpress sites
    - 5 pages of content or more
    - do keyword research to find primary and domain...and then AGAIN for the site to find secondary pages to target

    It costs us around $40 or so per site...each site ultimately makes around $9-$10/month it looks like...but it takes a couple of months to get there.
  • Yes, its definitely still possible.

    I've had more success with larger authority sites then with small 2-3 page "product" sites. Original content is also the key. It may cost you some money to get 100+ pages of authority content for your site, but once its up and running it pays off. And keeps paying and paying.

    I'm not a big fan of 2 page "redwomensshoeswithbluestraps.info" sites. Not worth the time. Better to invest time into promoting 1 authority site in a well researched niche, then try to rank a bunch of crap sites. And much better pay off.
  • Yes it can be done. I make more than few hundred dollars per month.

    But it's not get rick quick. It has taken me an year to get here. Unless you do everything yourself, you need a decent capital to outsource it. Even then you'll have to wait till 3-6 months until you see any return.

    • Yes, it is possible to make that amount with Adsense. Its actually possible to make much more than that, even daily. If you need any help, please let me know.
  • I'm not to that point yet, but I'd definitely say it is possible. I've only been messing with adsense since probably mid-February? I did some affiliate stuff for about a month and a half before that. Anyway, even without spending nearly as much time as I'd like on it, not having a ton of money to invest, and moving across the country last month, I recently got to a point where I'm earning a couple of dollars a day fairly consistently and expect that to ramp up considerably in the coming months.

    • 'Far as I'm concerned, no, it isn't too late. I started near the end of last year, and have steadily improved. No, it's not a "living" yet; but by multiplying my successful efforts, I am confident that it can be. My apologies if I've repeated myself in other threads, but what I've found is that:

      1. EMD is helpful

      2. Writing about specific subjects, or at least general categories, that you're interested in, makes a huge difference. Honestly, I would not be able to create a bunch of sites about "extra large mens pants with cuffed legs". The diversity of products and services out there mean that almost all but very general of topics will result in targeted ads.

      3. Useful content, especially for informational sites (which also have products and services associated with the topics) helps to attract visitors. So does good writing. If you can't write well, it probably pays to outsource it.

      The above is probably nothing new for some of you; they're simple observations, but I've seen consistent improvements by applying them.
