Logo/Image vs. Text

I have an image/logo that I would like to use in place of my current text-based site title... I'm thinking that changing the current text to an image would adversely affect my SEO - is that correct?

Is there a way to do this so that it doesn't cause my search rank to get beat up?

    It won't make much of a difference at all - almost none. Add alt text and title to the image and you will be fine.

    Yes i agree with you. But keep in mind the techniques used for the image optimization. Just follow that.

    I think image speaks more than a text.So always use alt tag and title tag.

      There is no detrimental effect using an image, although try not to make it too large and bear in mind how it will look on a smartphone

    The header logo just make your website more easily to remember or more attractive if you are good at design, but it won't make much difference in rank. After all, it's just one image.
