Looking for a SERIOUS Mentor

Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen!

So.. Here's my story... I've been interested in getting into internet marketing for a long time now, but I just don't know where to start. I finally found a good way to build store sites, but now I am stuck with the SEO stuff (not the on page stuff).

I want to get my sites to Google's first page for a number of keywords/keyphrases... I want to do this myself (not pay an "seo specialist")... I don't have much money to mess around with (practically none to be honest).

So I'm looking for a mentor who's willing to share some secrets with me... It's for PERSONAL USE ONLY... I never plan on selling services or even flipping sites... I only want to have my own income through Amazon, Adsense and Clickbank.

Basically I'd like to know EXACTLY what to do step-by-step to boost Google rankings by myself.

A list I guess... Eg.

Go <here> and submit 2 articles per keyword per week
Go <here> for free backlinks
Go <here> to do blah blah blah

If I need to buy software, please only recommend the CHEAPEST (but also reliable) option.

I don't want little tips thrown at me every now and then (I've had that and my mind has already fried from all of it). Lol.

I really do want to be successful in this by myself, so I really hope someone is willing to help me.

Please contact me via PM if you're interested in helping me out (and leave your email address for me to respond, as I'm not able to PM back yet).

Thanks everyone!

  • Let me put it nicely... Anyone who knows how to make money online will not waste his time mentoring others unless they have something to gain. Anyone who doesn't know much and gives you advice will be useless to you.

    Good luck.

    • I agree with that. Even when someone is offering you free mentoring, much of the time they will have some sort of a hidden fee.

Even if you have to invest some money for this type of training, it will be the best investment you will ever make in my view.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • Dont tar everyone with the same brush.

I recently mentored someone through their very successful WSO and it didnt cost them a penny.

  • We can help you LadyRaven. This is exactly what we do for our members. Using live 1-1 mentoring and tutorials.

We can get you a good battle plan and walk you through the steps.
  • If you are looking for a SERIOUS mentor, then be prepared to pay some SERIOUS cash. Coaching in a 1on1 form doesn't come cheap!

There are various SEO tools that can do the job for you, although if you don't know what you are doing, the very same tools can set you back. Or worse put you out of business in a particular niche. Automation is great, but you need to understand what SEO is about first.

I advice you to go to the SEO section of this forum and read all the stickies there first, become known with the latest Google changes and learn the absolute "don'ts". Then see if you would like to do SEO for yourself or outsource it to someone.

SEO can be fun, but also boring.. It really depends on the person. Also when searching for a tool for SEO automation, be sure they provide a written manual and training videos.

    Hope this helps!

    Steven

PS. Also be cautious when it comes to replies on this particular post of yours, as many on this forum are still marketers and trying to sell their stuff.

    • Yeah SEO is a very expensive road to go down

  • There are lots of requests like yours LadyRaven, every week. Most have it all backwards.
...they list all the things they want, and offer virtually nothing to the "Mentor."

Why not list all the things/services/value you would bring to the relationship that would even catch the eye of a potential mentor?

They answered it for you. As you stated, money is going to be an issue so I'm assuming you don't have the resources to pay for a top notch mentor.

Instead, you need to think of things that you will be able to do to benefit the potential mentor, and offer to work under them (for free would probably be best). Use the tasks you are given and the information you can glean from them and apply it to your own business strategy.

You'll get much more traction (and benefit) that way over just telling someone they need to help you here.

      Best of luck.
  • Work under them, free? Doing what? I'm more than happy to help wherever I can.. I just need to be guided through this whole internet marketing mess.
    • [1] reply
    • i think there is no free ,, there is a lot of good mentor here , you can easy to find in WSO,, but the average price is high,,
  • With all due respect, this is not mentoring; it's teaching.

Good luck on finding a coach.

    Will
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Just to add to my first post, there are many skype groups which will help you if questions arise, but don't expect them to babysit you or to guide you through any process. This forum is also very good if you have specific questions in mind and that is all you really need; because learning by yourself is much more valuable then some one trying to hammer the information into you.

Obviously if you have money to invest there are a lot of good courses out there, one of which I followed (by Craig Caron) and they are extremely helpful in getting started, but are by no means necessary. You can make it happen on your own with a little push from the members of this forum.

Once again, good luck in your ventures.

    EDIT:
Again, you are asking the wrong questions... You have to start working on something and ask specific questions such as: "how do I pick a product to promote?", "will this specific page convert?", "how often should I send an offer to my list?", etc...
  • To be honest...there is more than enough information on this forum to get you going with off page SEO.

Nobody knows where to start when they begin...well atleast 98% of people

I assume you have done keyword research and have chosen keywords to target? Have a site set up? Have quality content? and now would like to rank in google?

With all of googles updates I would personally focus on finding forums closely related to your niche and become part of the community adding valuable insight with a link in your sig.

I would find blogs closely related to you niche, reach out to the webmasters and offer a guest post with a link point back to your site at the end. (if you can produce quality content)

Try to get your content on as many of these sites as you can, and build a relationship with the site owners, which will enable you to consistently provide content to them and their audience, which then becomes potential visitors for you. (send the same article to all of the sites...research article syndication on this forum if you are unaware of what it is)

I would not buy or use any type of backlink automation tools.

Basically it seems these days google wants good content and quality backlinks. Quality over quantity...spamming a site with tons of backlinks will not cut it in todays SEO world......

    good luck.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • If you can't afford to hire an mentor, then you better do a little research. SEO is not complicated as it seems, specially today with the latest update on Google. What matters is the quality of your content on consistent basis. Do a keyword research first using Google Adwords, make sure your keywords will be found on your website title, meta tags, and also H1. Use your keywords in each post for your blog, make sure it has enough density that it will not affect the quality of your post. Do basic, social bookmarking, article directory, share it to social media and also add your site on directory site. Stumbleupon, Digg, and Pinterest is good supporting site to drive traffic. Hope this helps.
  • Yes, I agree, there is a LOT of helpful information on this forum.. A lot of which I have implemented on another site of mine. However, I find it really hard to navigate through all the posts to find something really useful.

I wish I'd written down all the things I learned for my previous site (instead I just implemented it as I read up about it lol).

I guess I'm just feeling a little burnt out right now. I love learning new things, but there is SO much information around on this topic, that it's just getting to me a bit.

    I appreciate your input everyone!

  • Hi! Ive been looking for a mentor for ages but i have to say my best find so far is this forum! There is the best information sitting right here with honest peoples thoughts on a load of different ways to do things!

You just have to take the time to really look around and find what you need.

Sadly any of the guys or girls making the big money are not likely to give away all there selects unless they are charging you a ton of money.

There are a few group coaching sites out there though, but they are hard to find.

It may also be a great idea to have a look at some of the WSO's as you can gain some great info for not a lot of money.

As a tip id say that first of build a plan. If you don't have a plan its easy to get lost. If you can get the basics together then all you have to do is build on what you know and learn.

Plus the more you look around the more chance of finding the strategy that earns you money.

    Hope that helps a tad

May I offer a general observation, Lady Raven? Please appreciate that I intend it helpfully rather than critically!

If I were starting out today/tomorrow, the very last thing I would want to do - and now more than ever before! - is to start a business which is going to be dependent on Google for its primary traffic.

As so many Warriors have discovered over the last year or so, some of them to their very great cost, a business which depends on Google for its traffic is never going to be more than one algorithm-change away from a potential accident, or even a potential disaster.

My own top priority would be to set up a business whose long-term prospects and outcomes I can control myself. Otherwise it isn't really a "business" at all.

    Just my perspective.

    • Why not take a quality course that teaches you the ropes step by step? It would be much less expensive than a 1on1 mentor and often these courses have forums with the support of other members. I know of several that are excellent.
      • [2] replies
    • May I add that since Google search traffic is freeee and SEO is not exactly difficult (read: easy) once you get the hang of it, it'll be foolish to stay away from them for fear of algorithm changes.

The key, as mentioned, is not depending on them primarily. What's a smart marketer to do then?

Funnel search engine traffic into mailing lists, so that you have a bullet proof vest should the unthinkable happen.

      Money's in the ....?

    • Typical misunderstanding of SEO from people in the main board (You can always tell when a thread has been moved from there)

SEM is not a business model no more than radio advertising is a business model or Television or Print. SEO presents an ADVERTISING model. SO can you build a business on top of SEO? Yes - very comfortably and safely.

Provided you have the business model to work with your advertising.

Any business that goes down the tubes when it no longer is advertising is one that does not create repeat customers/traffic. Alexa's argument that if you rely on Google as a means of advertising your company it makes you dependent on it is only true if in fact you have no legit business model. In which case who cares? Its not a legit business anyway.

What company advertising in any medium would not flourish having 200 new potential customers everyday walking through its doors for 6 months? So what if the advertising falls off in 6 months? Wouldn't a viable business have converted thousands of its visitors into paying clients and repeat traffic?

ALl people who say this are addressing is frankly the Adsense situation and some affiliate marketing where there is no business model but converting and never retaining Google traffic. Most adsense and affiliate marketing guys/gals don't build anything that people would want to return for so they have no customer retention at all.

Which is why I have and and will continue to say that ADSENSE sucks as a business model but that has nothing to do with SEO sucking as an advertising model.
  • Not sure if serious?

Why would anyone successful spend their time mentoring you? Why not mentor a friend or someone who has already put in loads of work and failed (and you know what they've done so far)? Why not mentor someone who took the time to actually build a working relationship with the mentor over a random person on a forum "needing a SERIOUS mentor"? Give me one good reason.
  • If I may add to Alexas post, just go visit a few SEO forums and you will be bombarded with threads from people who have followed the SEO model, who were providing SEO services for paying clients, whom after the latest Penguin update were obliterated.

I'm not talking about the blog network business themselves, but people who were using them to boost their clients websites.

Their entire 'business' gone in seconds.

    • If you are serious about learning this business it will cost you quite a bit of money to hire a really good mentor to coach you - and even more money for one on one coaching. If you can afford it, however, this is the best way to learn.

Ill never forget it. I still think about that a LOT.

Every now and then its just nice to help someone out - someone that genuinely wants help.

PM me LadyRaven, I have EXACTLY what you need. And no, Im not here to **** you around or sell you anything.

All I ask is that you follow instructions and help ME out in return.

It wont cost you anything but time.

Oh, and this isnt an offer for 'mentoring' as such, just a bit of honest help. I just dont have the time to commit 100% to someone at the moment.

  • we have coached people before and some students have gone on to do 60k to 80k lauches, without ever looking back, but there are also student that do nothing and expect to see results. It does not work like that.

Go read a few threads in here, you can have the best mentor but that does not mean you will make money. Infact I have seen many people spend over 20k in coaching by the biggest guru, yet they have made no money fast.

My point is, you have to be willing to work your butt off to see results. IF you are not ready to do that, do not bother. Commit, sacrifice and work off your butt and you will do well.

    • Do you actually know what SEO is? Maybe start there. That education is free.

Unless ignoring the potential for organic traffic altogether, how does one design/build a website without understanding SEO 'stuff' in the first place. That would be akin to building an airplane without understanding the dynamics of flight (stuff).

SEO is a constantly changing dynamic. If you want to exploit organic traffic you will need to first understand it. It might take you a day to get an in depth understanding. After that, you need to learn the tricks of the trade which are changing constantly.

SEO is a field where you actually have to do the work.

oh.. did I mention build your list
    • [1] reply
    • Asking for a mentor is not about taking shortcuts sundown. Mentors are not themselves shiny objects.

The main point of having a mentor is having someone to help steer you in the right direction, keep you motivated, direct you to the correct resources when you need to learn something and having someone on hand to ask questions of when you have doubts, when you need clarification on something and to help you avoid wasting time and money on the wrong things............like the next shiny object which may or may not be (usually is) worthless

The overall theme of this thread seems to be (not in all cases) fairly hostile to someone who is just asking for guidance through what we all know can be a minefield of half truths and expensive pitfalls.

      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • for the 1-on-1 mentoring solution, be prepared to pay some bucks..

I know that there is a guy on this forum, Kenster, is offering something similar like what your are asking to. perhaps you should check that out?

  • John,

I was wondering if you were willing to give the instructions you gave to LadyRaven to me as well. I read that you were dissapointed in your recent efforts to help others who "desperately" wanted the help. Well I promise that I will put in full effort to implementing your instructions and do as much grunt work is needed to achieve success. I want to change my life and I want to work for that change.

I won't give you bull**** excuses on why I'm not following your instructions either like cartoons and all that BS. I want success and I want to work for it I just need the path illuminated and I will walk it no matter how long it is. I can't PM yet but I was wondering if you wouldnt care to drop me one.

    • Hello All,

Please excuse if I offend or otherwise...I'm new to the forum etiquette...I think the real question should be what is your ultimate goal? To build your email list, increase revenues, engage more users for exposure or more page views for your brand...

...There's more than 1 way to skin a cat...as we all know, but you should be spending your time on activities that's going to bring you closer to your ultimate goal...such as seeking out JV partners with a free (evergreen) report/s (WIIFM) to build your list or creating an evergreen product/s to create affiliates (Clickbank, paydotcom etc...) in order to add profits to your bottom line.

There are individuals out there that have figured out the traffic process and if you can tap into these sources with something of value (which I'm sure was mentioned earlier in this post), then you can start putting notches on your belt...try to figure out 20 ways to bring traffic to your site, instead of focusing on 1 problem...

...But I would consider going the extra mile by providing something of value to offer those that have figured out the traffic getting process...also consider writing articles, I know it's time consuming, but if you don't have much of a budget then this is way to start to at least get your name out there and refine you writing skills as well.

Where is your market hanging out at? Are they reading ezines, newsletters, forums, blogs etc...Have you considered creating banners and doing banner exchanges with potential partners (blogs) that's servicing your market?

There's a lot more productive things you can do,then worrying about SEO...this is a time consuming process and takes a bit of time to even see results. (As I'm sure everyone here is aware of...)

If you're getting traffic now by other means...are you tracking what action is being taken with your offers? Are they buying, opting in to your list? Have you tried multiple offers? What are you numbers? Because if you haven't figured out the numbers game, then this would be a good place to start as well.

Sorry to be long winded, but there's a lot more to consider, then just SEO... seek out experts who've been there and done that, maybe interview these people to service your list and educate them and yourself, while building relationships along the way.

I could be completely wrong, but if I can be service in any way, please don't hesitate to email me...I'm not an expert by any means..I'm simply offering my opinion...no pun intended...you may need re-focus thinking...because a mentor may not be the answer for you at this time. Get intimate with your market and you can't go wrong.

Ultimately it comes down to your market (servicing your market) and your goals.

But all in all...GO THE EXTRA MILE!...It'll pay off in the long run.

P.S. Remember...this is a numbers game, whether we like it or not.

    • My feelings exactly,

I am dedicated to learning as much as I can however I don't have time to waste in my business to go through a year of trial and error. Based on what I see from this forum I will just stand on faith and design a strategy and test it for a few months and just take it from there.

Once I get to the point where I'm wealthy I will just pick 6 people and help them create wealth for themselves and I want charge a dime even if I sell my system I will still continue to give back.

  • Why have one mentor when you can have thousands for free here at Warrior Forums. Getting a range of perspectives works better than just one.
  • You might check out Chris Farrell's membership site.
  • If your trying to find a serioues mentor then your going to have to pay TOP Dollar for a Serious and already successful marketer to teach you.

No one is going to teach you for free just because you ask.

But if you do have the bucks to do it then you could benefit from this tremendously if you choose the right mentor. There are several respected WF memebers on here that offer coaching services that are pricey but worth it. Check it out.

Or you could just start working on what your working on, write a journal, and possibly someone that is interested in you work would be willing to mentor you.

People can indeed better pay for it then get it for free, as with free info they are too lazy to do anything with it, while if they pay they might think, damn I paid a few 100 bucks for it, better do something with it or it's money down the drain.

      And even then...

I always think that if you need coaching you're just a loser. If you really want something you figure it out yourself, unless it's some high tech / scientific stuff.

Affiliate marketing and making money online is pretty straight forward. Why people still fail and only 98% succeeds? Simply cause they are way too lazy or like taking shortcuts with every single thing they do.

No wonder automated solutions sell so well, get rich in 5 days, damn I should start selling WSO's.
  • Sounds like you got the right mindset here. Create a list and then just follow it each week.
  • Yes you really do get what you pay for when it comes to mentoring and coaching. As someone rightly said - those that offer it for free are quite often under-qualified and those offering paid services (like me!) can often be beyond most people's budgets.

It can be a bit like chicken and egg but hang in there, get to events and you might find someone genuine able to take you under their wing for a while to get you started.
  • private 1 on 1 coaching can be very expensive - but having said that i've had many success stories from my previous students. PM me if you'd like to find out more.
  • You aren't looking for a mentor.

You are looking for someone to do the work for you.

Mentors are people that TOOK the time to learn the information and identify what works. The chances of someone laying out that gameplan for you WHILE holding your hand, is slim to none. Especially from someone that's actually making a living doing this.
