Hello Everyone! This is my first post since joining this community. I'm looking forward to being an active participant, and getting to know many of you.

What is your opinion about WordPress and SEO? Are there any advantages to using WordPress over conventional WYSIWYG site building software when it comes to SEO? I have about 20 or so sites and have converted most of them to WordPress. I have done searches on Google to get opinions to this question, but most of the responses I get are from WordPress enthusiasts. I'm just curious how a more diverse community would answer this question.

To the best of my knowledge you can use just about any web development platform to make your post/page more search engine friendly. At the end of the day it all comes down to the man/woman behind the gun (or maybe I should say behind the desk - I hate gun). After all, a tool is just a tool. It's just that some platforms make the task a lot easier, WP is one of them. But it can only be beneficial to you if you know how to leverage it. In other words, spend some time learning SEO. The best SEO tool is your SEO knowledge and skills. I hope that helps.

PS - SEO is one thing, the other part of equation that's equally important is providing good quality content for your readers.

With a good working knowledge of SEO, WordPress will simplify things.
You not only have access to "traditional" SEO plugins, but social media (eg FB Open Graph and the usual sharing plugins), local search optimization etc. IMHO, it's just so much easier to combine them all with WordPress, especially if you have a lot of sites.

I think Wordpress would be the best one out there..
Aside from the good themes available, you can also have lots of plug ins installed on your website.. I think there are some SEO plugins too.. Not sure but you could check it out..

I stumbled onto the "All in One SEO Pack" (Torbert) a couple of years ago with my first WordPress site. I have since noticed that my sites using the WordPress Platform seem to get more traffic. There may be better plugins for SEO, but I'm not familiar with them.

In the beginning I found WordPress to be a little hard to learn and navigate through. I guess it wasn't what I was expecting. Now, I prefer it. The templates seem to provide more consistency in how the different browsers read the sites.

Thanks for the input. Maybe I'm on the right track after all!

I think Yoast is a pretty good plugin for SEO, also combining Traffic Travis with yoast will get you the best results possible. I combined them two and ranked No.1 on google for my chosen keyword.
