Google Local Citations - Five vs. 5?

Hi Warriors,

I've run into something with one of my clients that I haven't come across before.

Their address is listed in most places (their citations) as, example, "123 Five Star blvd."

However, through Google Maps and a few other locations the area is listed as "123 5 Star Blvd."

I have gone back and forth with the folks at Google, and whenever it is changed on the map, a couple of weeks later it reverts back to the "123 5 Star Blvd." address.

Does this have an impact on citations at all? Does Google distinguish this difference? I've tried to look this up through Google and doing research, but I can't seem to find any concrete evidence. There hasn't been any change in rankings since I've implemented citations, but I feel that is mainly due to the fact that most of their competitors haven't really done any good local work.

Google is definitely smart enough to find out that 123 Five Star Blvd. and 123 5 Star Blvd. are the same place. A proof of this would be that it actually reverts the address back to how it is present across the local search ecosystem rather than keeping it the way you input it via the dashboard. If the footprint is too deep, I'd recommend you stick with the way the address is displayed on most of the citations as this would be the thing Google would give privilege to in many cases.

So I had a client who was ranking very well with on Google's local listings. Then the client moved. It has become a hassle. It had been months without ranking.

      His address something like this:
      302 S 4th St

yet google would show it as:
      302 South 4th Street

Very annoying that Google would adjust it.

However, we had to go back and fix all of the citations to the exact listing as Google had it. After about a week, our client's listing showed up!

Maybe coincidence? Anyone else have this issue?

Citations are a hassle as places pages are but, I definitely think google can figure out the difference or lack there of and know that the two are the same. I can't stand that the stars have been dropped from the places pages!

Google is not child and educated and many PHD people working on it. so don't worry on this little issue. Google can understand that.
