Google Rank Dropping

Does anyone have any idea why my website has dropped from the 2nd page to the 15th page in just one day? Site was holding steady on 2nd page for 2 months. Key words are dj drops, female dj drops. Female dj drops is still ranking on 2nd page. I noticed for dj drops the link that was indexed on 2nd page was my home page djdropscentral dot com. Why would this happen? And should I use my other pages to backlink since my main page has dropped or does it matter?

    Yes, couple of sites i'm working on lost rankings and some of other sites are steadily increasing.

        The writing's on the wall with Google - you just cannot put all your eggs in the Google basket any more. The same happened to many people in 2008 - Google's algo suddenly changed - to fight the spammers - and many folks had their income decimated.

        Don't rely on Google - full stop.

        One model many are following - and have been for years - is putting up really good quality content then getting people to share it. That way you get traffic from Twitter, FB, LinkedIn, Google plus 1 etc etc and Google itself accounts for a smaller and smaller % of your traffic.

        Like 10%.

        That is nice and healthy!

        And, funnily enough, Google likes it too - they love those social signals and will, no doubt, incorporate more and more of them into its algo.
