Ranking for Keywords like Detroit?

Would it be easy to rank for keywords like --> Detroit ? and other destination city keywords?

According to Google keyword tool there is low competition.

    It depends which longtail keywords you're
    targeting.. detroit dui lawyer will be more
    difficult than detroit wildlife.

        The reason it probably shows low comp. is the keyword could be targeting a million & one keywords.

        Is the traffic searching for:
        • [detroit travel]

        Or,
        • [detroit plumber fix toilet]

        You have no idea If they're searching for travel or plumbers in Detroit. The keyword is too broad. Focus on your niche keywords, be specific, otherwise your creating unnecessary competition.

    The difficulty rating in the Google keyword tool says nothing about how hard or easy it is to rank for a keyword organically, that just shows how competitive that particular keyword is with paid advertising. The more competitive the keyword is, the more expensive it's going to be however if low comp competitive keyword you have to pay much less

    Having said that, this post was made in the wrong forum... There is an seo and paid advertising board you should be posting this question.

    it will be very hard to rank i think.. and beside that what is your plan with this whole idea? adsense?
    because if so.. detroit wont have any high cpc. I was also a fool once to target a 40k exact keyword that was just a term, like "the dollarsign".. i got to #1 within a month. massive traffic, but adsense clicks of 0,05$ .... conclusion: not worth it!
