30+ EMD domains and $5000 - what now?

Hi all,

I have 30+ Exact match domains within the same topic. What would be the best thing to do? My budget is approx $5000

I am thinking about creating one branded site and let the other support it with blog content linking to it now and then. Or should I just sell them and focus on one site? What do you think?

I think you should focus on one site rather than pointing other 29 sites for one.

You could add 20 pages to each site and rank each of them for sub topics and lead the visitors to your main site or monetize each of them as well. Either way you'll get more traffic that way and you can also use them as back links for your main site, such back links would be pretty valuable as they come from relevant domains that rank for the same type of keywords. Kind of the best back links that you can get.

Yes, it would like to think so aswell. Maybe not HIGH PR links but relevant links from domain that purely is about that topic.

I would suggest what nik0 stated.

I had a few niche sites which could go under one broad topic, so recently built a site that I now link them to. It is going to work well, as the page rank is building and all of those are relevant in some way.

You can cycle your traffic from the smaller to larger site, and for me, I am also putting together one newsletter that can point to all of the sites, according to what I talk about at the time, to get more traffic and sales.

That's what I was thinking, funnel traffic into a main money site with a few of the other domains.

I'm not an EMD fan for the sake of a longtail keyword, but If you already have the domains & some content, might as well use them.

Wait for next Google emd update and realize that you are on wrong way

That is rather cryptic. Would you post more info, please. Why do you say that?

I guess you mean next Google EMD Update? And that EMD-domains will be filtered even harder?

So what is your suggestion? Selling them?

I would not suggest you sell them. EMD's used to given more weight than they have now. But you make sure you have 20 or more articles on them and as well, I like to get some backlinks and they do have value in Googles eyes. They just don't have the ADDED value they used to.

They have some value - you have spent time and money on them, and you can build up their Page rank/authority, so that it passes on to the larger site.

In addition, since you have the funds, do what Mike Anthony suggests and you could build an SEO network. Several people offer courses on that.

I might sell a course on the topic but I think you ask anybody in the know - when you have a budget of 5,000 you take part of it to build a SEO network to give your sites some juice and authority.

EMDs are nowhere near as powerful since they were turned down in effectiveness by Google last year.

Yes most of them are domain aged 1-13 years. No history. No pagerank. Two of them are PR 3 and 4 (used to be forums).

Global Google search volume for the EMD keywords are around 7,7 millon/month. (5 millon searches for the Low-Medium competition keywords). If I add stopword emd domains there is another 25 million searches to get traffic from.

You can run 30 sites at one time as well, if you are an experienced SEO, or you can run one it all depends on you..

Perhaps you can better invest the $5k in to a private network yes. Otherwise you might end up with 20 PR n/a sites that you aren't able to rank or you'll might end up with spammy back link techniques to handle the volume and end with 20 penalized sites.

For me the 20 EMD sites would definitely be the choice as I already have a large private network.

Sell them unless you have the resources. $5000 is not nearly enough to develop each domain, host it in a different (NON SEO HOSTING) location, update it with quality content, etc. I easily spend $5k on ONE quality site.

My $0.02.... listen to who you want.

Focus on one site, build it up, then move on to other sites.
