Couple questions about blog comments and PR

Hey WF, long time reader, first time poster. Sorry if this has been covered already, but couldn't find anything specific to my needs by searching.

I'll be running a rafflecopter giveaway in the near future for a client and as one of the entry options, we are considering having entrants make a comment on the blog post we announce it on.

The site aggregates and hosts profiles for artists.

The questions:
- Does Google PR care, positively or negatively, about a comment in the blog post?
- And if so, does it matter if we ask the entrants to link to their favorite artist in their comment?

This would essentially mean a ton of links would be added in comments on our blog pointing to our own site. Good, bad, doesn't matter?

Really appreciate any assistance on this in advance. Can't find anything definitive anywhere.

This all depends on what kind comment plugin you're using and whether the links are set to nofollow or dofollow.

I don't have the tech information yet (will on Monday) but I believe their system is proprietary. The links are probably setup as nofollow, though I'm confident this could be changed if necessary - again, would have that clarified on Monday.
