I think I posted this in the wrong section earlier, sorry for doing that.

So, I have grown to learn that manual seo is the best way to go for the long term and the safest. Just been my experience so far.

I know about blog commenting, forum posting, bookmarking, etc...but not much in terms of quality.

Is there any material anyone could point me in the direction of that I can read, study and review to learn more about proper ways to create manual back links. Looking to start from the beginning :-)

Thanks for any help.

What you have to keep in mind is that every niche will be different. If you want to find the very best links possible for your site, forget about articles. You need to audit the back link profiles of the top 10 results for your keyword. Sort all the links, make a list of the good ones and then find out how to get them.

That is the fastest and safest way to rank a website.

      This. I concur.

The key here is to write engaging content. The gerund "engaging" could be a mouthful word for most. Because some people think that an engaging article is a keyword-based 500-word article with one percent applied keyword density. It's far more than that. When you write your content, it stir the mind of the reader. It must make the reader react and feel the need to either comment or share your post, regardless if that reader agrees or not on what she read from your post.

If and when that happens, you don't need backlinks. The people who read your content will "voluntarily" share your posts. They will do the work for you.

The question is, where do you think you'll find such writer who can write engaging content for you just in case you don't have the knack in writing?

I can say that all you have done is correct and I am confident to say that you are on the right tract the only problem is how you acquire links with quality. Quality of links matters most. Do your link building campaign seriously and meticulously avoid spam and avoid less quality links.

Hi.. as you have mentioned here that you are doing blog commenting, forums & bookmarking. I would like to suggest that all these are the best off page activities which gives best results. But you need to do in organic way.
If you are doing blog commenting then find the blog related to your website having good PR and comment on it.
If you are doing forums then try to post on relevant sections of your targeting keywords.
If you are doing bookmarking then find the high PR bookmarking sites and create backlinks.
And do quality based work not quantity base.

Lots of good information people. Thank you so much! I have started researching what would be the highest quality links and how to get them, something I never thought of.

Should be interesting to see how it goes since I have always used bots before. Just sick and tired of new stuff coming out, never knowing what will work, etc but then always have the threat of getting into trouble.

The only way you will continue learning is by looking on forums such as this more often.
People will come along with their issues regarding SEO, and professionals in the SEO industry will come along to answer them.
You should take notes on the answers to such threads and learn from them.
    Good luck!

When you post in forums, blogs, etc. you need to provide value to the people because that means they'll come and check out your website. So yes, quality is definitely the key in whatever you do. i don't think you can do a course in quality posting ;-)
Better is doing it. When you answer questions try to answer them related to your website's topic. Even if you don't want and can't post a link to your website in every post you still can add a link to your signature. Got seen is a good way to increase traffic to your site and become an authority.

SEO Basic starts from Onpage optimization. Until that is not done correctly, rest all are waste.

With good keyword research and onpage optimization, there are many times we have ranked for keywords with little or no off page optimization within days or sometimes in hours too
