Hi, I was wondering if you guys have any tips as far as making a "compelling" meta description. I'm not looking into any type of SEO benefit, just moreso how to make it catchy etc. I should be knowing this, but it's always good to go back to the basics.

If you have any sources that you go off of let me know. Thanks folks.

I don't believe that catchy meta description will bring you more conversion/visitors or help you in some other way.

I have always tried to sum up my site/page content by writing 1-2 sentences about it without bluff/fluff.

Well, having eye-catchy meta descriptions has worked for me for so many years through these money-sites I have (earning through an affiliate income). The trick here is finding the experienced writers who can write compelling meta descriptions for you.

The key to a high CTR meta description is the CTA. e.g: Click here for <keyword here>.

Another way is to add in your Google+ authorship markup to increase CTR to your website.

I would be interested to know this too. The meta discription is what the Se's will put in the site sescription when they list it right? If so how many words, characters etc... Also where does this go on a hosted wp blog? I know with HTML but not with WP.

Grab a book called "How to Make your Advertising Make Money" by John Caples. There's a section in the book about writing small ads...which your meta description really is.

    You've got 160 characters.Use them wisely.
