Semrush versus Google Analytics

Hi guys,

Nice to meet you. I know that someone like you can help me with a question. I'm trying to see the traffic of a client´s website with two tools: Semrush and Google Analytics.
Semrush shows me 12.982 about traffic this month, but Google Analytics tells me 4.808. There is a lot of difference between this numbers.

Is there someone that can explain me some reason of this difference?

Thanks for all. Cheers from Spain!

Google analytics is the most accurate tool to get traffic stats from compared to semrush. Semrush on the other hand is a keyword research and competitor analysis tool. It's traffic stats are not accurate, so disregard them.

We review the numbers from sermrush to get an idea of what a site is doing and what potential that there is. That is the key with semrush. It is not tracking the site, only letting you know what they would be at if they were maximizing the traffic for the keywords that they are ranking for. You will get an idea of the numbers, but you will not get definitive information. That needs to come from analytics or other third party tracking software.

Definitely Google Analytics. SEMrush is good for competition analysis

I used to talk with a guy from SEMrush team. The thing is that semrush isn't an instrument for tracking own positions. Semrush can give you an information about your competitors, and nothing more.

Google and Semrush both have different set of parameters while tracking the visitors. Google tracks both the returning and unique visitors on the basis of IP address however semrush tracks it on the basis of hits no matter how many times you visited from the same IP.

Som if you want to show your client an exact traffic information I prefer to choose Google rather than semrush.
