You can make widgets without putting them on your site so you can see what they look like.

The way they work is that the page with the content gets "locked" until your visitor completes a survey....

As with anything new, it can take time to get used to things. I think the tool gives you more flexibility. You can drill down by groups of keywords or use the categories area.
