Yes, waiting might be the best thing you could do if the IP "trick" doesn't work. It may take up to 24 hours before the DNS settings have reached all servers. Usually with Namecheap it doesn't take...

I'm not 100% sure, but it should be possible to access your site via the IP address of the server your site is hosted on, even if the DNS settings haven't propagated yet. So, instead of using...

I definitely agree with that. Even a single visitor to your site each day can bring in $20 (ok it isn't that usual but possible). Targetted traffic is what really counts!
