In the end, open and click percentages don't really matter in this context. If your using single, you will still have all the users that would have confirmed. You can always prune your list of those...

You could set up and send your own confirmation email (first email sent) and those that click the link to confirm, move them to another list. Then you have a list of those that confirmed and didn't...
