LF Professional Business Writer - 20% Equity On New Wiki In Lifetime Adsense Revenue

I just thought I'd throw this out here to see if anyone is interested. This only applies if you have extensive experience in business/marketing writing, and preferably a degree in a related field, have experience writing in an encyclopedic tone, and are a great proof-reader/editor of your own work and others.

My proposal:

I understand a lot of writers are looking to expand from writing as a job to perhaps making their own online business where they can utilize their writing skills to expand exponentially, instead of maintaining a linear income for the same level of work. Like with all new businesses, a lot of sacrifice is required to take a shot at this. If you're interested, read on..

A little about myself. I'm an experienced Internet marketer, particularly in SEO. I can provide private examples of sites I maintain where I'm making a regular income (some sites are making $20k/year on autopilot).

I want to create a content Business/Marketing Wiki that will be my biggest project yet, and potentially huge. I need an experienced writer that is familiar with this niche that is prepared to devote a good junk of their spare time, and sacrifice immediate payment in return for a 20% equity in all profits from the Wiki (which will be mostly in the form of Adsense). As I mentioned earlier, good things come with sacrifice.

The Wiki is located here: Internet Marketing - Heron Academy Wiki

It just started, and only has 2 pages.

That article I wrote, and the linked article that is linked ("Marketing") I hired someone to write. All wikis you write will need to be of that standard or better, and contain at least 3000 words each. To begin with, you'll be the only person writing the articles.

What am I bringing to the table? I am going to show you, and involve you, in the actual SEO and promotion of the Wiki. You can see first hand how we're going to transform it from nothing into a content site that will make a lot of income on autopilot. I'll show you how I outsource, how I manually SEO, and how I hire people here in the Philippines for very low rates to perform tasks that would normally be very expensive.

You'll learn first hand from our project actual knowledge that you can combine with your writing skills to apply anywhere in online business. The skills you gain from seeing how we expand the wiki will allow you to evolve from a writer to making automated websites that make money whilst you do nothing. I backup everything I say with personal examples, which I can share with you.

So, what will your role be? You will be the Chief Editor of the Wiki. You'll be expected to write many new encyclopedic articles, assist me in the recruitment of paid editors as we grow, manage them, and ensure the overall expansion of the Wiki.

To give you an idea of the commitment required, we shouldn't expect to see hardly any Adsense revenue until you've established at least around 40-50 3000+ word articles. That's a huge investment on your part, with no guarantees. You'd be sacrificing thousands in potential revenue that you could get elsewhere for a business prospect with no guarantees. That's one of the sacrifices you'll need to make. If you're not into taking a gamble, if you prefer security and guaranteed pay, then this project won't be a good fit for you. I'm looking for someone willing to expand exponentially who is willing to make risks.

I'm going to be continually conducting SEO as we grow. The 20% equity will apply after we've deducted all costs from SEO and other business costs (when we grow these costs will involve paying other editors etc). I'm not going to include in the costs my personal time working on the wiki (the marketing, SEO side), just as we're not going to include yours for writing the articles - I'll only include the actual expenses I pay. Since we're both business partners, it's only fare that we work for free for each other.

This deal will sound ridiculous to most of you, but I'm only looking for a couple of interested applicants (who can PM me their resume, experience) who have an open mind. No businessmen I've met plays it safe all the time, and you can't succeed if you do, no matter what the mass opinion is. It's up to you what your risk tolerance is.

We will form a proper contract that is legally binding in your favour. If I breach the contract I retain absolutely no rights to the content. You can sue me and force me to take it down. This Wiki will belong to both of us. It may seem that I'm taking 80% of the profits, and you only 20%, but in reality I also have a business partner that I'm dividing 50% of my profits with, plus I'm never including hosting fees and other such things as we expand, I agree to cover all that personally without making any deductions from the profit. Since this is a side-project from heronacademy.com (which I also plan to expand) the Wiki will also be getting free traffic from that - but that traffic will be incredibly minor in comparison to the SEO and other marketing I'll be conducting to target the Wiki exclusively. I plan for it to grow and make a very large recurring monthly Adsense revenue. Of which you'll be entitled to 20% after costs, so long as you remain the active Chief Editor.

A summary of what we will agree on:

You will receive 20% of the Adsense revenue from the subdomain heronacademy.com/Wiki so long as you remain the active chief editor. To be considered active for contract purposes, you must be willing to write a minimum of 2 new 3000 word articles a year. In reality you should expect to write 50++ if we're going to expand and make money from this, but for legally binding purposes this is all I'm going to require of you. In addition, you must help me participate in managing any editors we recruit. Once again, this is just the "bare minimum" that you'll need to maintain to receive the 20% commission. This is to protect me in case one day, after we're making a lot of profit, you abandon the project completely, forcing me to find another Chief Editor whilst I'm still legally obligated to pay you forever for doing nothing.

Buyout Clause: I reserve the right to buyout your rights to the 20% equity at any time for $200,000 (negotiable), or for a price that we both agree upon. In reality I won't exercise this unless you keep your involvement in the project to a bare minimum (ie: only write 2 articles a year to keep the contract valid). If we're making $100,000 a month and you're no longer active, I will exercise this right. If we're making more than this but you're still very active, I won't exercise it. Once again it's a protection measure to ensure I'm not left by myself to conduct the full-time SEO required, whilst you quit. But it also protects you so that if you do decide to quit.. you are nevertheless entitled to 20% lifetime profits unless I buy you out. It protects us both.

The 20% commission profit: This only applies to profit. If I spend $5000 on an SEO campaign, then this will be deducted from whatever revenue we have. You'll receive 20% of actual profit. Now, to protect you from me cheating, you will have the rights of a full director/business partner. This means I'm not allowed to deduct a single $1 from the revenue without your approval. If I do, it comes out of my personal pocket, not the revenue. You are entitled to 20% of Adsense revenue as shown in the Adsense account, minus costs only that we both agree to. I will always be the one to personally pay for these costs, and then deduct them from our venue. You never need to invest anything. For example, say that I think it's a good idea that we spend $5000 on an SEO campaign for a new category of articles you wrote that I think we should deduct from our revenue. I outline the plan, but nevertheless you disagree with it. Or perhaps money is tight for you at the moment, and you want your full 20% of the revenue, without any deductions. You have full right to tell me "no, we're not spending $5000 on any SEO campaign", and I won't be allowed to deduct that as an expense from our revenue. We both must agree on all costs - you have full control here with me. rm profit. But once again, we must agree on everything.

Or for example, say I think we should hire an editor for $40k/year to assist in the article writing, that we will deduct from our revenue. That's something you can agree or disagree on.I cannot do anything dirty on you at all. Keep in mind however that deductions will be part of the expansion - we must re-invest our revenue in SEO and other marketing in order to gain exposure, more hits, and later long-term profit.

Whilst it may seem you're the one providing all the content here, the reality is I'll be investing huge amounts of my own time managing the SEO and marketing of the Wiki. And I'll be teaching you how I do this too, so you can apply this knowledge anywhere, even on your own projects. It's true though that for the first 50 or so articles we won't have much exposure. You shouldn't expect that we'll make anything for the first few months, or that much marketing will be possible. Once again, this is a long term project with potentially life-changing payoffs, or a big waste of both of our time. I can't predict which one it will be, we can only apply our combined experience to push the odds in our favour. We're in this boat together.

Even if it ends up being a waste of our time, you're still going to get that 20% Adsense revenue for LIFE (unless I buy you out), and I can promise you that we will be getting SOME Adsense revenue no matter what. So it's impossible you'll walk away from this with nothing. In fact.. as the Wiki ages and more natural links come in-bound, the Adsense revenue will grow naturally anyway; and once again, this is the WORST case scenario. In reality I have every plan to make this Wiki successful as a huge content wiki. Once we have many articles (50+), and you writing new ones doesn't have as much of an impact, we're going to discuss hiring new editors together to scale things faster. Of course, we must agree on everything, including how much we pay them etc (since you're a partner after all). In addition, in the absolute worst case scenario, you'll also walk away with the knowledge of how I conduct SEO to build sites up to make money on autopilot, which you can apply anywhere.

At the very least look at it as a way you'll be writing to receive some great online business experience. What's more likely to happen however if you put in a lot of effort is that this Wiki is going to grow and we're going to make a lot of recurring profit from it.

So, shoot me a PM with your resume/examples of your work, and how much time you think you can commit to this project. I don't expect you to work on this full-time to begin with (since you won't be making any money, that's unrealistic of me to expect that). But as it grows and starts to make money, you should be prepared to devote more time to it.

I'm only looking for ONE chief editor/business partner in this. Any questions I'd be happy to answer.

TL/DR; Be the content creator/chief editor for a new business/marketing wiki, write lots of high quality articles for it. Receive 20% of its profits for life (mostly in Adsense). My role will be to conduct the SEO/marketing of it, which will give you valuable insights into how to create and run your own online business outside of this project, in addition to all the benefits it will bring to our project. This is a high risk project with potentially huge, life-changing payoffs, but in the worst case scenario you'll still be receiving some Adsense revenue for life from it. I'll sign a contract that guarantees this for you.
