Calling All Affiliates! - What do you want in an affiliate program?

Hey there Mr./Ms. Affiliate,

I've just started taking affiliates to help sell products I've created. I've had a few that have done quite nicely, so I'd like to bring on a nice big army for all my different products.

What I want to know is what would make you want to promote a product.

Obviously something with a good conversion rate, which isn't a problem as copywriting is my main gig. One of my most recent projects brought in a whopping 20.8% conversion rate through my list.

But what else are you looking for in a program? Would physical incentives work for you? Something like an Xbox or iPod for a certain number of sales?

What about pre-written emails, landing pages, and things like that?

Let me know what it is that you want out of an affiliate program... I want to give it to you.

    I think competitions and prizes can peak interest and help to get people started, but in the long term your product has to convert on a basic level, consistently.

    I think the most vital element though is a strong affiliate resources section, but again imo this varies so much between niche to niche, our most popular affiliate resources are our pre-spun articles and written materials, but perhaps for some IM products it might be video reviews, for other satalite to TV products it might be banners (?).

    I would recommend looking at your competition - the key people in your niche(s), see what the successful ones are offering to affiliates, and if you want to compete with them then combine the best elements of all of them (and go beyond too) - but also don't forget to keep in touch with your affilaites - keep them updated of changes, new products, new materials etc..

    ..basically make the whole process of promoting you as easy and effortless as possible

    Hey everbody,

    Thanks so much for all the help.

    I've had a lot of success so far on my first affiliate program. I've had a bunch of people sign up, and some even make a few hundred dollars in just a few days... it's been nice

    What I'm getting from this is to better serve my affiliates I should have...
    • Great marketing materials ready to go
    • Big conversions
    • Good payouts + ways to make extra money
    • Amazing products that the buyer will love
    Now, to get onto creating some marketing materials for all my affiliates... I've got a nice long drive tomorrow, so I should be able to get some done then.
