Marketing gurus - help sell my overcoming RSI eBook (clickbank)

Hi all,

I've been in IT for a long time and RSI blighted most of my career . I'm now fixed, and I've written an eBook about how I recovered from this annoying condition .

Here's my pitch:

Overcome Repetitive Strain Injuries

There's an affiliate page (see my .sig).

I'm convinced my eBook is potentially a big seller. People have given up their careers or gone part time because of RSI. But one month on and I only have 1 sale (which wasn't an affiliate one).

Am I doing anything wrong? Is $39.95 too much for an eBook? Are affiliates shunning me due to my low marketplace ranking? Do I need a longer pitch page? Or do I need traffic, traffic, traffic? I'm still link building so it's early days yet. Should I get that guy (I can't remember who he is) to design me a $49.95 page header and footer? What else can I do?

If you're a clickbank affiliate, then you could make good money selling this. Get writing those long sales pitch letters!

I am not new to Internet marketing, but I am not quite a guru yet. I have made a decent second income from selling my own software, but I haven't got good enough to give up the day job. I am starting to make very good money on Adsense. I am currently reading "Hypnotic Writing" and I've just read "The Answer". I need to get better at this game!

I guess if I can't sell the eBook then I might just build an information site on the domain, I think it is a great domain with a lot of affiliate/adsense potential.

Thanks everyone!

    Hey DrGUID,

First off, why are you convinced your ebook will be a big seller? "Because I wrote it" is not a good answer. If you don't have a list of reasons why you know your product will be a best-seller, then potential affiliates will not be attracted to your product. All I'm saying here is that you should be confident in your product and have the numbers to back it up.

When I visited your site, I gagged (sorry, involuntary reflex). Yes, I would advise hiring someone to do a complete minisite for you (header, footer, promotional tools, ecover, etc.). Another thing I would do is to invest in a copywriter to at least do your sales letter. The reason why I say "at least" is because pro copywriters, depending on your budget, will often consult with you certain aspects of your marketing as well and do some of your other copy.

You can expect to pay less than $200 to get a wicked minisite designed. Good copy ranges from $0 (if you barter or work on a % basis) to $15K+, but it would help if you had a few thousand bucks for this. You absolutely need new graphics and copy, so don't cheap out on these things. Find a way to acquire these things if you cannot afford upfront fees.

    A few more things:
-don't waste your time on link building - there are far more profitable things you could be doing (such as directly contacting JV partners)
-try to create or acquire some bonuses which complement your main product (e.g. additional PDFs, videos, etc.)
-test your conversions (tweak your copy, price point, etc. as necessary)

My answer certainly isn't comprehensive, but I do hope it helps a little.

    Good luck,
    Curtis
