Hmm, this method is good, but I think that twitter will ban accounts that Follow/Unfollow the same users over & over again..

edit: I wanted to add a "Thank you" to OP, but I cant seem to find Thanks button anywhere.. Maybe that's because I have low post count..

I worry about getting shut down by Twitter if I do this too much. But I tried it for 10 minutes at 10pm and I snagged one follower. Cool. Thanks for tip. (If I get banned I'll be back to throw rocks.)

This is a good tip, but very time consuming. From my experience you will achieve greater success by initiating hundreds of connections on a regular basis with highly targeted followers.

There are paid tools that can develop relevant connections in a highly efficient way. My favorite is TweetAdder, it nets me hundreds of new followers daily. I created a video review (and an awesome bonus) for this new product here: TwitterToolsBook.com/tweetadder3

There are also free tools that you can use to automate following/unfollowing. Tools like TweepML.org and ManageTwitter.com. These require more time invested, but work well. Check out my youtube channel garin.tv for videos showing how to use these tools.
