Here's some info on my product:

Product name: Spitfire Craft Project - How To Turn An Old Coin Into A mini Spitfire Using Tools That Almost Every Man Already Has In His Tool Box

It all started about 15 years ago when I was only 10 years old, every Sunday the whole family would go to my grandma's house for dinner. Every time it was exactly the same, say hi to grandma and granddad then sit down and watch television whilst waiting for our dinner to cook. After we had all eaten our dinner everyone would sit around the table and play a game of Monopoly. Now I was usually quite good at Monopoly and would normally be one of the last few people still in the game, only on this particular day I just failed miserably.

After about 20 minutes of playing all of my money was gone, and I ended up bankrupt. Now if you've ever played monopoly before you'll know that if you lose all of your money early on, there is a hell of a wait until it's time to start a new game. So as you can imagine being the only person out of the game I quickly became very bored.

I started looking for things to do, but when you are on your own it's just not that fun so I just ended up sitting in the hall on the bottom step of the stairs looking glum. After what seemed like a lifetime the living room door opened, it was granddad he had just been made bankrupt and like me he now faced a lengthy spell of waiting around for the next game to start.

He noticed me sitting there on my own and asked me "what's up with your face?", to which I said "I'm bored, there's nothing to do!". He said to me "I've got something that we can do, go get the shed key and open the door. I will follow you out in a minute." Sure enough he followed me out and when he got to the shed he was holding two, two pence coins. He gave one to me and kept one for himself. He then proceeded to tell me that what he was going to show me was a family secret and I wasn't to tell anyone how to do it, ever.

"Ok then your secret is safe, but what exactly are we doing and what's this money for?" I asked, to which he said "just keep hold of it you'll see in a minute". He then started gathering a few tools and began bending and cutting the coin. I just kept thinking what the hell is he doing. As you can imagine just standing there in the cold shed doing nothing was pretty damn boring, so soon after he started working on the coin I stopped watching and found a hammer and a few nails and began hitting them into an old piece of wood.

Then all of a sudden granddad shouted me over and said "open your hand" and when I did he placed the coin in the middle of my palm, only this time it wasn't round and flat, it was a tiny little Spitfire. I was absolutely astonished, he had taken a coin and transformed it into a tiny little model. I immediately gave him my coin and asked him to do it again, and he did. Only this time I watched every single step he done so that I could then make my own.

Every Sunday from there on in I would say hi to grandma and granddad, watch tv, eat my dinner and then instead of playing Monopoly I would head straight to the shed and make a few Spitfires.

Eventually as I grew older I stopped making them little planes, in fact I completely forgot all about them, that is up until a few weeks back. I was at home cleaning out the loft, passing boxes down to my partner and then all of a sudden I heard my son making plane noises. And to my surprise when I got out of the loft he was sitting on the floor playing with about 20 little Spitfires.

He was amazed, "where did you get these planes daddy?" he asked and I proceeded to tell him everything that you've just been reading. He was astonished and asked me to make him one, obviously I had been sworn to secrecy by my granddad so I had to take him to grandma's house. I took my son in and he showed granddad all of the planes, which brought back so many memories. "Granddad can I show him how to make them?" I asked and he said yes. Then I said can I show others how to make them and he said no!

Then when I was making a Spitfire in front of my little boy, my granddad could see how amazed and excited he was. I then said to him "look how much joy a little coin can give to one child, you should let me teach other people to make these, they are just great. Maybe in years to come a granddad somewhere else in the world will be able to use this technique to put a smile on his grandchild's face, just like you did with me all those years ago!" again he simply said no.

Then all of a sudden just as we had said goodbye and were about to step outside the front door to go home, granddad shouted me over and whispered in my ear "go on then son, you can teach others". I just couldn't believe it after over 30 years of secrecy I was finally allowed to share this wonderful project with people outside of the family.

The product will be finished in 3 days and hopefully the ad will be placed this coming friday.

Please PM me if you are interested, no time wasters please.

Regards,

Stephen.

    Okay Stephen,

TIme to sharpen your pencil or put some batteries in your calculator. I know most people would probably not pick up on those discrepancies but crunching numbers comes natural after 3 decades. How old are you now? 25? or 40? The other 15 years must be hiding in your memory and won't come out!

I used to play Monopoly too and my Grandfather was one of my best friends growing up - we used to double water ski on single skis from the time I could walk - Lake Osoyoos in BC, Canada Until my Grandfather was 70 and then my Grandmother said it was time to retire the Speedos

Getting back to your advertising - $175 is what you have and another $200 is what you need if the ad is $375 but you're on the right track with that $50 discount. Here's why: NEVER pay what they say.

If they want $375 for 1/4 then tell them you want 1/2 pg. or run the add twice as long for that same $375. Or, tell them to give you 2 more 1/8 size ads in other sections to get more exposure for the same money.

Every rate card has 15% built in for agencies so if you really want a partner, get one who agrees to form an advertising agency so you get the 15% agency fee too. What else does your partner have to do besides write a check for $200 and earn the 15% agency fee? Why not just get a loan, pay the interest and keep your Income secret like the little airplanes were? Just wondering , that's all.

When you make at least $100+ per month, we split the profit 80/20 and YOU get the 80% Until then, you keep 100% and I'll help you drive traffic, get backlinks and put the domain in your name too!

Hi first of all thank you for the tips on the advertising much appreciated, I will take them into account when contacting various media groups. As for the 2 bold points above,

Just because I only only learned this process 15 years ago doesn't mean that it hasn't been known by my granddad for over 30 years. In fact it has probably been more because he taught my father it when he was younger.

As for the amount needed, that was an honest overlook and thanks for pointing it out as I do actually need £200.

      Regards,
      Stephen

I didn't mean to sound like I doubted the 30 years and in fact, I actually thought if you meant your Grandfather, it would have been even longer - like maybe 45+ years, that's all.

I knew the ad cost was just a math error - so how much is that in US Dollars? And what else does your partner have to do? Seems like you're being awful generous to hand over 1/2 of the profit unless I'm missing something?
