Seeking Offline Business Partner - Great Opportunity for Serious
This is an update for anybody not clear on WHAT and WHO I'm looking for.
I'm going to put this in PLAIN ENGLISH for you. As I appreciate the below was a long post (done for a reason obviously too). But I realize the need to be more direct now.
SO: I'm actually looking for two things and potentially two people at the moment in terms of my business:
1) Offline Marketing Business (positioned in SEO) - So my bread and butter at the moment in terms of income/cashflow. So I want to Concentrate Purely on the Marketing Side and build up the Brand as I believe this is my Strength (yes customer acquisition included). So I'm interested in hearing from two types of people:
a) Someone strong in SEO who can handle the servicing of the business (probably my preference as that is where I positioned myself)
b) Someone who has a Solid Background as an Offliner Marketer/Consultant or just has the drive generally (so if you are not established I'm not concerned but comes back to your desire). However, with this route we would need to go down the path of outsourcing the SEO and other business functions together. And on the SEO side I MEAN great people who will not ruin or name/brand/integrity that we will be building.
2) Personal Projects and other Residual Income Streams - I view this as of equal importance to my offline marketing business looking into the future. I'm wanting to set up residual income streams in other areas too (not going to go into the specifics here) with a view to a better lifestyle.
Have a whole List (like many of us I guess) of ideas/projects that I never get the chance to look at purely because of the time I spend in my offline marketing business at the moment. I want this to change.
Decided: Would prefer to work with someone on this as I think it's just all round better for me - to bounce ideas, to push one another, stay motivated and leverage off each other's time. Also working in isolation can be boring.
I've also come to the Conclusion: This will probably be two different types of people as. That sits fine with me just mentioning although will not rule out the possibility of finding one person.[/B]
Anyway just clarity on the below (which talks all about offline marketing but number 2 above is of equal importance to me now - something I've neglected for too long).
Update: I want some more responses. Offline Marketers don't be afraid to drop me a line but please read what I have to say first.
Hi,
Just to let you know (if you want to skim read this post and get to the appropriate section):
1) Admin - the first part of this post is more about how I want you to respond and to weed out time wasters.
2) My Business, Beliefs, Thoughts, Who I'm Looking for and WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU - So I talk about my offline marketing business (quite broadly obviously rather than strategy specific). I also share my beliefs, views and the type of person I'm looking for ideally (great SEO person is preferable but not Essential). All of this will make much more sense when you read what I have to say below). Lastly what's in it for you of course. Yes, a business partnership or any type of partnership is always a two way street.
3) Vision/Direction - This is the final part of this post where I talk about my vision for the business, how and where I want to outsource and finally why LIFESTYLE is really important to me going forward. Also just briefly about me.
4) Lastly - I have deliberately made this a long post because I appreciate the process may take some time but figure time wasters won't respond to such a long post and hopefully save me time as well. This is a massive step and such a critical one for me and I want to get the right person ultimately.
Note: Where I have "Reveal in Private" means I don't want to talk about this section in this thread for privacy reasons but we can talk about this later (I can send you the full document by email).
1.1 So YES, as the Title Suggests:
You read correctly. I am looking for a Very Capable Business Partner for my Offline Marketing Business to move forward with in 2012 and beyond. I love the warrior forum and so it makes obvious sense for me to use this resource to find someone.
1.2 Firstly Though:
I'm treating this very seriously for obvious reasons. I will be following my own processes before deciding to contact someone and taking any further steps. So please do not get in touch unless you feel the same way about where you want to head with your offline marketing business (after reading what I have to say below).
1.3 There is Nothing Worse:
I'm not here to scare anybody off but I don't want to hear from TIME WASTERS. By no means do I expect you to agree with what all of I say below but I'm ultimately looking for someone that does share the same overall beliefs as me and knows this is a similar path/direction they want to head in their business. If you agree with nothing I say then it's fairly obvious it just isn't going to work.
1.4 I Figure the BEST Way (and Hopefully to Get Good Responses):
Is to lay out most of my cards on the table - obviously not all of my specific strategies for the business but rather my overall beliefs, views and the general direction I want to head with the offline marketing business.
1.5 If you Like What I have to Say:
Please drop me a PM preferably. If things get messy in there (in terms of word count) we can take it to email etc etc. I will be checking this thread as well from time to time. We can take things from there and communicate via other channels if I like what you have to say. Again just to stress I'M VERY SERIOUS ABOUT THIS AND I WON'T MOVE FORWARD WITH SOMEONE UNLESS I'M 100% CONFIDENT THEY WILL COMPLEMENT ME AND BE A GREAT FIT FOR MY BUSINESS.
1.6 Finally, PLEASE DO NOT JUDGE ME:
By my 'anonymous identity' here but rather by what I have to say below. I am posting this anonymously purely for privacy and other obvious reasons. I'm sure you would do the same in my shoes. If you like what I have to say and I like what you have to say then I will 100% be in touch with you as I'm keen to get the ball rolling on this (I realize/realise this process may take me some time to find someone I'm happy with).
OK NOW THAT WE HAVE THE ADMIN OUT OF THE WAY...LET'S BEGIN...SHALL WE??
2.1 As an Offline Marketer - I Positioned Myself in SEO (in particular Link Building)
Just under a year ago now. With the belief that if I could establish myself as an authority in this field then it would be very easy to cross and up-sell various other marketing services to local businesses. This strategy has been successful to date.
2.2 In Terms of my Income - It's OK but I want it to be MUCH BETTER (hence Partnership/Outsourcing)
Obviously for Privacy reasons I'm not going to mention my income levels here and I'll talk about more what I'm striving towards below. I have some income from other sources as well. At the moment I make a reasonable income per month from this business the moment but it's nowhere near the amount I would like to make and enough to make me satisfied or relax for the time being. This is where you and outsourcing come into play - I've reached the point now where I need to take this step to Accelerate.
2.3 THE GREAT THING ABOUT About my Business Right Now - So Much Potential for Growth
And this is Not just an outlandish statement. When I can get the right systems, people (including a partner) and segment my business the way I want it - there is Huge potential for growth. There is no two ways about it and I'm NOT just saying that word in a really simplistic way like many people say it as well. I have taken all of the correct high level action steps to date to set myself up (read the below to understand further).
2.4 I've Built up the Brand Name Considerably - Particularly through YouTube
I spent Considerable Time (more so last year and early this year) building the brand name - particularly on YouTube with education and information style videos. Reveal more in Private
2.5 So What is the Result when Clients Come to Me?
Is that I seal the deal EVERY TIME. OK it's probably not 100% but it's very close. Obviously the reason being is that they are already a very warm lead. I just need to seal the deal which I generally do because I'm good at that - That's what offline marketing is all about right? Anyway it's certainly the most critical part - in terms of business cashflow.
2.6 My Belief/Views/Take on Other Methods of Securing Clients - Cold Calling, Networking etc
Complete waste of time and I'm totally against these methods. Even meeting with clients - at the end of the day I don't want to because it's not my style. Years ago I used to do this for a living and hated it - when you do something you hate you have little success. When you do something you love - you have greater success. This is not to say you are going to love everything but this is what I'm about now and how I want to move forward in my business.
2.7 I'm Not Saying these Methods don't work but I'm against them because:
- That's what most offline marketers do. When you follow the crowd/competition in life you tend to get similar results. Maybe some results but not as good as you should.
- You rarely get through to the decision maker first time meaning more rejection.
- It's just not me and my style and that's final. Someone can tell till I'm blue in the face to do it but I won't because I don't want to. I prefer approaching clients through other streams more subtly in a soft-sell helpful type way and getting better results accordingly.
2.8 My Methods/Strategies are all about Value, Value and Value:
I set very high standards. My clients like me because I'm very honest and lay everything out for them on the table. I'm all about providing value and in return reaping the rewards in the long run. People at the end of the day appreciate that and it's what separates a good offline marketing business from a great one in my opinion.
2.9 Unfortunately Now with Growth - It's Putting me Behind with Deadlines and Securing New Clients (what it's all about)
So clearly now I know I need to outsource but I came to the realization a little while ago now I need a Business Partner as well. THIS IS WHY - I also realized something else about my own strengths (considering that I positioned myself solely in SEO).
2.10 Realized that my Strength is More on the Marketing Side - than the SEO Side
Reveal more in Private
2.11 So with that in Mind: THE BUSINESS PARTNER I'M LOOKING FOR IDEALLY (WILL CONSIDER 2 DIFFERENT TYPES OF PEOPLE THOUGH AT END OF THE DAY)
a) I would prefer a Business Partner with a great knowledge of SEO and one that can really help drive that side of the business forward. On the flip side side I will purely concentrate on the marketing, securing new clients and our critical cash flow.
b) This is not 100% essential because I don't want to discount anybody out there. I will also consider somebody who is just a very keen and dedicated offline marketer and knows this is the direction they want to head. I'm NOT concerned with the stage you are at in your offline marketing but realistically you couldn't be a complete newbie.
2.12 Some More Thoughts ON TYPE OF PERSON I'M LOOKING FOR:
- I'm very open on the person to be honest and prepared to give people a chance but I'm certainly not after a complete newbie and would prefer someone experienced (alternatively you would have a great attitude and set the highest of standards as well).
- Someone who is a real action taker and is good at taking a look at the bigger picture is the ideal complement for me (at a very high level)
- I personally set really high standards. I can't settle for second best. So I expect likewise from you because this mentality I believe always shines through when servicing clients.
- You will obviously be very motivated and driven as well
- Ideally as well you will concur with my ultimate plan to outsource and the action we need to take to get there
- Lastly but certainly not least you will be a very honest person like me
2.13 The Other Reasons why I REALLY WANT A BUSINESS PARTNER
I can no longer accelerate my business success financially or have the lifestyle I ultimately want without taking this particular step. Yes, of course, the obvious step is OUTSOURCING - I know - this is very big on my agenda - and I mention my ultimate plan on this further below in 3.
However, I've decided I would much prefer to work with somebody for a number of reasons:
- To bounce ideas off and be able to share these ideas with someone
- To push each more towards our goals
- To escape some of the working in isolation (I don't have a problem with it but can help to know you have something working on the same goals with you no matter where they are based in the world)
- To be able to work potentially on other projects together completely outside the offline marketing space (yes I also have an interest in my own projects but zero time at moment)
- To ultimately have a long term friend ideally.
2.14 Where you are Based in the World - Not Concerned at all but English Needs to be Your First Language
- I am not concerned at all where you are based in the world - but realistically I would expect it to be in the U.S, UK, Canada or Australia.
- I'm fairly well travelled myself and based in Australia now. To be honest there are always going to be pro's and con's to where you are based. These can all be overcome.
- I always like to look at the pro's if our times are not in sync - because at least it means when someone puts their head down on the pillow they know the other person will be working on things.
2.15 Also if you have any Concerns about an International Partnership - Perhaps you NEED TO THINK AGAIN ABOUT THE MARKET YOU ARE TARGETING
- I'll tell you for a fact at the moment that all of my clients are from the U.S and some from Europe as well. So me being based in Australia has not been a concern for them at all - perhaps it's actually an advantage for me as well because I think sometimes it's small things like this that maybe makes a difference - just an observation.
- It's obviously the bigger market naturally but with that comes more competition.
- I'm here to tell you for a fact (that while the general business knowledge is not as high in Australia and the general importance of offline marketing is not as recognised vs the U.S or Europe) the whole market in Australia is really wide open when it comes to offline marketing services.
- I would definitely say for an Australian Business that it would be more important that the person be based locally. Just my general knowledge of the market and living here - obviously that's where you leverage off me (being based here).
- Just food for thought if you are a struggling offline marketer or looking for further growth and are based in the U.S or U.K.
2.16 SO WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?
Well I would like to think that has come through from what I have mentioned above. However, above all you are coming into a Business with existing cashflow, clients, a very solid platform and a wonderful opportunity for growth. Enough said.

3.5 Finally - a Bit About Me
I'm 31 years old and male. As mentioned before I'm based in Australia. I'm very driven in what I want to achieve and what I have mentioned above. I'll leave it at that for now until we talk further.
But I really hope the time I have put into it will get me some great responses. What you put in you tend to get out (most of the time).
I'm prepared to work really hard on this business in 2012 with the right person but ultimately I want us both "working on" NOT "in the business." Leave that as my final thought.
Look forward to hearing from you,
Established Offliner.
