How I've pulled in over $40,000 in the last year working occasional evenings
So below I'm going to discuss how I operate and then I'll give a run through for what I think is a really simple entry point into the business.
In a nutshell I build and support websites. I know, I know this should be really called "offline marketing" but the method I'm going to show below is strictly "online".
I want to emphasize something. I'm not a web designer, I build the sites. I couldn't match two colors if my life depended upon it. I simply install WordPress, add a template, add the content and photos etc.
I work with multiple graphic designers who themselves cannot build websites. When the designer has a client that needs a website, they go and look at WordPress templates. From there the designer modifies it to suit the client and does some mock-ups. Once the client is happy with the look and feel, I build the website and the designer snags it.
Going forward I upsell a maintenance package, hosting, newsletters (these are a goldmine) etc.
Please don't be fazed by the above. I've covered everything from the most basic steps in the guide.
So this brings me to a super simple entry into selling website services: Craigslist or your local classified ads website.
There is one prerequisite though. In order to sell yourself to prospective clients, you need a quality website of your own. If you've never built a website, don't worry, again I've covered everything in the guide.
So here's the steps:
- Build your own website
- Create an advert for your local classified ads website (Craigslist, Gumtree etc)
- Price your first websites super low to get a portfolio together. Say $97. After you have a small portfolio start charging $200.
- If you have the cash, become a hosting reseller for one of the big names like Bluehost, Hostgator, Justhost etc. If you don't have the cash, become an affiliate. The idea being here that if clients asks can you recommend a host, you can either sell them a package or earn from your referrals.
- Upsell the client a basic maintenance package (maybe to include their domain and hosting) for a minimum of $25 per month.
Again, everything above is covered in the guide.
I want to talk some numbers for a minute.
Assume that you can sell 3 of these websites a week and sign clients up to your $25 a month maintenance. After 12 months you will be earning $3600 per month in maintenance alone. $23,400 in the first year from maintenance not including the near $14,000 you would have earned (assuming you only charged $97 per website) from the website charges themselves.
What if you could upsell other services like newsletters? The money to be made offering website services is crazy and I honestly believe it's the easiest path into earning online.
As I said, everything above is covered in the guide which is linked in my signature. Now just to let you know that most products I use in my business I'm also an affiliate for and I've used those links in the guide. You don't have to click any of the links if you wish, just Google the product instead but I wanted to give you a heads-up.
I've only just finished writing it this week and would love feedback. I'll be on the forum for another while this evening but as I'm +8 hours pacific time USA, it's nearly my bedtime. Feel free to send PM's asking any questions, I'll respond when I get a chance.
Thanks,
Sacha
