    Personaly, I think if I had enough money to finance a massive post card campaign (and it would have to be massive) I wouldn't need the business in the first place!!!

    I am also curious about the whole post card marketing. I get about 1 - 3 of them in my mail per week from all types of companies. It must be doing some success because I keep getting them!

      I think that companies who do direct mail with letters and postcards are using lists they have bought and that are already targetted. That way, they get a higher return. If you just send out cards on the "shotgun" method, you will waste a lot of money.

      I don't know the latest figures, but direct mail used to be the most efficient way of selling in the world. That may have changed now due to the Internet.

    First off, I don't think you have asked your question in enough detail. What is your target market, what are you selling them and what is your marketing objective: branding, sales leads, promotional?

    Postcard marketing is expensive and you don't know that your target market is actually reading it. For example, you send a postcard to a President of a company and the secretary gets it she throws it out. I'd consider doing a telemarketing campaign to call and make your marketing pitch... that would seem like a good spend to me, but again you need to explain your situation a bit more for a thorough answer.

    The short answer is no, postcard marketing is not effective unless you absolutely know your target market will get it and read it.

      Look at PostCards from a mathematical viewpoint:
      5,000 4" x 6" Postcards

      $ 345.00 (or, $ 69.00 /m) 2-sided, 4 color, variable info
      $ 1,400.00 Postage ($ .28 each)
      $ 1,745.00 total

      at a 1% response (average), you should get 50 orders.

      Just to cover your PostCard + mailing costs, you need to
      make (profit) $ 34.90 per sale. This does not include the
      cost of renting or buying the list/names.

      And, of course, you need to "add" what you want to make
      on top of that.

      There is a whole lot more to it than this but, the above
      gives you a quick idea.

      I have mailed PostCards since the early 90's. I mail to a
      targeted list 4x /year and get consistent results.

        I am in UK and trying to find out what are the best products to be promoting and more importantly the formula that is used.

        We are looking to target tO small businesses with 4 to 50 employees and offer business marketing services.

        can anyone provide the actual formula for post card marketing... i.e the layout of the postcard... if you direct them to a recorded message or simply to your website to buy the product or service...

        Your help and advice would be great.
