Increase CTR From Youtube To Website

This is a traffic tip so I believe it belongs in this section. Mods feel free to move it if you feel differently.

So if you are using YouTube to drive traffic to a link of yours, you probably already know that putting an anotation on screen helps with your CTR.

I did an experiment and found that you should never put an annotation at the start of your video as people just close them because they want to watch the video.

What i found, was that you can double your CTR (double your youtube traffic) by doing one simple thing.

First things first, log into your analytic s for the video you have.

Now you know your viewer retention. This is the average ammount of time that a visitor spends watching your video. Higher is better, and also higher is good for SEO.

Now what you want to do, is take away 5 seconds from your average viewer retention time, so mine would be

2 mins 7 seconds - 5 seconds = 2 mins 2 seconds.

Now I should edit where my annotation is. I want it to arrive on screen just as people are thinking about leaving the video. So for me that would be 2 minutes, 2 seconds in.

You should definitely try this to see an increase in your traffic from YouTube. The point is that at the time of arrival to your video, your audiences interest is in your video, not your link.

But when they start getting bored, you provide them with something alternative.

Hope This Helps Some People

PS. Don't try putting on at the start AND at the viewer retention stage. If a user closes your first annotation, it will stop others coming onto the screen later in the video.

    Thanks for the tip Luke.

Didn't get this point at the end: PS. Don't try putting on at the start AND at the viewer retention stage. If a user closes your first annotation, it will stop others coming onto the screen later in the video.

You mean to say, other annotations do not come on the screen if the user closes the first one?? Didn't know that.
