Monetizing Facebook and Pinterest account?

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to ask whether it is acceptable to (subtly) promote businesses on my Facebook pages and Pinterest boards ?

For example: Let's say I have a Facebook page and a Pinterest board about "Fine dining in Paris", where I recommend different restaurants and cafe's... Can I accept money from businesses in Paris to promote them on my page (Not as an ad, but as a post / pin), or is it strictly prohibited? Has anyone done something like that before? Can it get your account closed?

Thanks, Roni

    Hi Roni,

    You can, yeah.
I have a page where I promote my business blatantly, it's just for that.
I'm talking about FB, I've never used Pinterest.

You can try micro job websites (like Seoclerks, Fiverr, Fivesquids, etc), to create a job/gig/service where you'll sell these promotion benefits...

    Hey Roni,

You should be just fine if you sell with Pinterest and Facebook. You would just have to find a program for which you can become an affiliate, and then post your links and content for traffic.

Also, I do agree that you should still branch out and use other platforms for marketing. Since you're mainly using these two, you must have really great pictures to get the attention of your audience.

Lastly, you can go to a site called KnowEm to get a list of social media sites you can sign up for to really get your links out.

    Hope this helps!

Yes, you can do that. I've sold many Facebook posts and have purchased Pinterest repins onto popular boards.

There is no risk of your account being closed if they know that you accept money from various businesses in order to promote them through your FB page and Pinterest boards ? I developed a few relatively-successful niche-focused boards and FB pages, which I want to monetize as "advertising space" and just wanted to make sure I'm not looking for troubles with FB and Pinterest for violating their TOS or what have you...

Yes you can it without any risk. Social sites are using for engaging people for your products.

Really, how would Pinterest or Facebook know that one of your pins/posts had been paid for or sponsored unless you pointed it out? You can do what you want, so long as others don't find out. That's not saying it's not against a site's TOS, but if they don't know then you would get away with it. As for whether it will work, you will have to try that out for yourself.

So long as the pin is related to your board, then it shouldn't draw undue attention. And, since your monetary transaction is being done off of Pinterest, they will have no knowledge of what you are selling.

Yes, you can do that. But you definitely need to have a big number of fans/followers before reaching out to any business.
