Follow Me Threads Section

I believe there should be a section for this.

Currently it's my understanding this is not allowed anywhere on the site.

For those that do not know, a follow me thread is something where a person updates their progress daily or weekly to some activity they are doing.

I can't see any logical reason for why Warrior Forum would not allow this, or make a section for it.

1.) A Follow me thread keeps content constantly on the site for the members. This content means more repeat visitors to the site meaning more ads seen and more revenue for warrior forum, allowing them to maintain and improve the site.

2.) People are going to do Follow-Me Threads anyways, so might as well have a section for it and keep people on WarriorForum instead of offsite. For example, Facebook was smart about that by lowering the PPC for advertisers who point their advertisements to Facebook pages to keep people on the site instead of off the site.

3.) Having this section means 'Less Police Work' for the admins in removing posts in the incorrect areas.

Argument Against: "But their threads constantly bump to the top over other members legitimate posts"

Solution: "If the content is 'good' then what does it matter? If it gets out of hand you are only allowed to bump the thread yourself once a day. This is not a bad thing, think of it as free content writers for warrior forum. Also if the person is posting in an area where this is expected like a 'Follow me Thread' section than there should be no issues of category conflict."

Interested in your thoughts.

yes I totally agree there should be a subforum for such threads!

Hope this becomes a reality because I know many members will benefit from this!

    I think this is mistaken.

I believe they're allowed (obviously with some constraints/restrictions) in forum blogs.

Where is it allowed, which forum sections? What are the current known restrictions if this is the case?

I noticed the forum blog thing, only issue with that is people need to be aware of them, and it's difficult to keep attention without a thread. Feedback is important to keeping you motivated for 'follow me' type threads.

Who gets to determine whether it's "good"?

By what criteria do they have to judge that?

How many people will complain and argue about the way that's done, given the way the current, less subjective rules cause complaints and arguments?

It sounds like "Spam City", to me, but I suspect a more objective and reasonable reply to your suggestion is this one.

I'd like to amend my idea with the following after reading the responses to my other thread.

I believe they should make a 'paid' Follow Me Thread Section. I'd be the first to say I'd pay at least $1/day for this. If I was selling something this would not be worth it, so there would be no incentive for me here to spam. It's more for holding me accountable to the people following. You could say I'd be paying for peace of mind and to keep me motivated.

This would probably get rid of spammers, and I suppose if they really did want to spam warrior forum would make money and no one would view their follow me thread anyways.

I think this might be a good compromise.

I would imagine they would get a lot of paying customers and bring the forum a couple extra thousand if not more dollars every month. ($30/month per user to have the right to keep posting to their thread).
