I’m looking for a Ghostwriter who has experience writing business mini-books and reports. I’m currently launching a Newsletter service (that creates custom newsletters for business owners to send to their customers). I need just a short 20-40 page report on the topic of “8 Reasons Why Newsletters Will Explode Your Business”. I have a particular niche that I’m targeting and a good feeling of what the report/mini-book should look like once completed. I’ll gladly share the specifics once I’ve seen your prior work samples/portfolio. Please contact me with any of your prior ghostwriting work if you wish to learn more. Thanks |

I want to address a couple of points in your thread. You ask for samples of ghostwritten work. That is impossible because when you work as a ghostwriter, the work is not yours to share. It is the property of the person who paid you. You say a "short 20-40 page report." There's a huge difference between 20 and 40 pages. Also you haven't specified roughly how many words you want. One page can be 250 words or 500 words so it is impossible to offer a quote based solely on the info in your thread. Perhaps you want to clarify these points? |

You'd likely get more responses if you said how many words you want and what you're paying per word.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

40 pages is a bit long, but for the right price, sure, I'd be happy to help. For a sample of my writing style, here's a (free) copy of my first book, Turn Funny Email into CASH! |

Savvier ghostwriters tend to have clauses that allow them to show their prior work to prospective clients granted that they too sign a confidentiality agreement- which I have no qualms signing. This isn't exactly standard practice, but is definitely in your best interests as a ghostwriter. If you're not doing this already I highly recommend you start as a strong portfolio is your strongest asset as a ghostwriter. As for my reasons as to not naming a price the reason is simple- everything is negotiable. A variety of factors will come into play when determining the final price- your experience, the quality of your prior work, your turnaround guarantees, etc etc. As for word count, thank you for bringing that up. I'm looking for 250 words a page with a total ballpark range of about 30 pages. So total words is roughly 7,500. If you're eager to learn more please feel free to contact me for additional details. I still am, however, looking to see prior work samples- preferably on the subject of customer attraction and retention & general marketing. I hope this helps, thanks. | |

"Savvier ghostwriters tend to have clauses that allow them to show their prior work to prospective clients granted that they too sign a confidentiality agreement- which I have no qualms signing." I know of few past clients who would agree to this. The whole point is that as few people as possible know that they aren't the author. Letting a third-party in on the secret so that I might have more work isn't really going to happen too often. Once they've paid, that's it. They don't owe me anything more, and I wouldn't ask them to go out of their way to help me out. If you're concerned about qualifications, surely you could set up a milestone payment scheme at a site like Odesk to manage risk. I don't use such sites, and a lot of "serious" writers don't either, but we might create an account for a well-paying one-time gig. Regarding price, there are hard and fast lower limits with something like this. Yes, there are several factors, but if you want a well-structured, well-written ebook sans grammatical errors—let's just say it's not going to cost $50 . |
On the whole, you get what you pay for.
