Looking for a good book ghostwriter
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

I'm looking for a ghostwriter who is experienced in self-improvement niches and able to write persuasively and with good research. I need a sample/portfolio to gauge your ability. Cheap rates at high quality, preferably. Willing to scale up to bulk projects.

- Imogen

PM me if you're a self-improv/women dating ghostwriter.

Define cheap? You may get more bites with a bit more detail like length, budget (total not per word) etc. You might also be in the wrong forum for cheap. I've done 5k word ebooks before (IM, dogs etc) and in a case like that have never charged less than $450.

We would all like cheap rates at high quality, but most of the time they don't go together.

"Cheap rates at high quality, preferably."

This is an oxymoron. If you want to engage someone who can step into another person's shoes and tell their story, it's going to cost you.

And I can tell you that most ghostwriters won't be able to show you past work. We sign NDAs.

From your post, I don't think you need a ghostwriter, per se. A run of the mill writer would probably work. There is a difference.

On the whole, you get what you pay for.

It's simple. Don't get me wrong, but I have a right to post what requirements I need and if you don't fit, then there's all there is to it - I don't think we are compatible. It's not that I'm trying to be uptight here, I placed the ad and I have a right to set requirements. This ad is part of the qualifying process.

I've received a few PMs already with pretty high quality ghostwriting services (10k+ words at 400+ bucks and that already undercuts your rates) but I'm definitely open to more entries if I can see quality.

I'm definitely open for talented writers and I won't undercut your work. I'm someone who believes in a win/win agreement. But as an outsourcer I do need to find the spot between affordability (affects my breakeven point) and quality.

Just to clarify things, my budget varies according to the quality and length. I can easily pay a 800-1000 if the work is exceptionally good. I'll settle for 12k words at 400-600 usd depending on your quality.

A sample might be a paragraph written on a topic of self-improvement... I just need to be able to gauge your ability. It doesn't have to be an existing project for a client (I understand your concern about an NDA).

Another reason for this is that I'm going to use the ghostwriter for future services at bulk projects... 15-20 books at a go and so on. Naturally the requirement would have to be strict in a sense.

Hi Imogen,

Your second post is much more detailed than the first so perhaps that can help you when posting in future.

Can you tell me if you want to get just a couple of books or a lot done? I ask as I may be able to quote BUT if there is too much work, I may not have time due to other commitments.

Cheers, Laurence.

Hi Laurence,

I would order at a per-project basis. I normally start with one order to gauge if the content written is a good match with my marketing style and if it's okay I would continue with increased orders.

How many would be too heavy for you? I could try to accommodate.

Hi Imogen,

For me it is hard to say. I have some regulars who naturally take priority but I always take on additional work but my workload is always unpredictable.
If we did try a book and you wanted more, I would have to assess at the time.
I am sorry I can't be more specific than that but I don't want to put all my eggs in one basket because the baskets usually sprout holes.

Cheers, Laurence.
