WP subdomain or subdirectory?

I will be building a new site with Wordpress. I will have one page that will allow interaction from visitors. It won't be too involved but they will have the ability to enter text that they can then modify. They will just have some simple choices to make in setting a little similar to something like Bing's "Immersive Reader". The page can be built with HTML and some simple JavaScript. That type of page is probably not ideal for WP but I have used it for so many years I am reluctant not to.

Any recommendations about the best way to set it up?

a) website.org/formattingpage (just a regular page or post)
b) website.org/formattingpage (as a subdirectory)
c) formattingpage.website.org (as a subdomain)
d) something else altogether I am not thinking about

I have never built or maintained any page like this. Maybe it doesn't make much difference but I am not skilled enough to know one way or the other.

    That question has been asked and answered multiple times on here.
    You might want to read through those.

    I would go with the page, not the subs as there is no reason for it.

    Subdomains are used for sections, not pages.

    Whatever you decide, use relevant SEO keywords in the URL.

    A subdirectory is great for a single page. If you're going to build it out eventually into something much bigger, then consider a subdomain.

    If it's something that you're looking to rank in search engines, lean towards a subdirectory.

    If you do not plan to move your website to a different server, you can use a sub-domain, but you have to take care of SSL. A sub-domain uses a separate SSL certificate.

    I had a blog on a subdomain, and my SSL certificate got expired. Let's Encrypt failed to renew it, so later I found that my traffic was dropping due to SSL issue.

    Directories and pages are accessible by the same URL. If you are using WordPress then I prefer to create page.


    But this all depend on your usage.

    There are many articles out on the web about this, from big hitter websites. They ALL have concuded that subdirectories are the way to go.

    Subdomains in terms of SEO isolate content from the primary domain and there is no SEO advantage. Each subdomain is treated as its own thing.

    Sub directories maintain the content and its SEO value all together. meaning it will ( in theory ) increase your DA value over time.

    Have to take What Matt says with a grain of salt, but his personal preference is subdirectories - UNLESS a topic is out of context to the rest of the page.
