Have a look in some plain html websites

Here are 3 simple websites that i created using frontpage 2003 and paint shop pro 9.

Even though they are minimal and low budget productions.. i believe they look OK !

But all opinions and aspects are vital source of information to me.

So you are welcome to say anything..

This is a simple html website for a Plastic Bag Industry. They produce nailon bags etc. They needed a very simple and cheap site.

This is another simple html website for a nice, luxury Hotel Resort on a greek Island. The website has a few external apps on it.

And finally a simple site for a team of Tourism Advisers. It a consultant agency of tourism related investments.

So if you have some free time just have a look and write a few words, otherwise thank you for visiting and wish you all the best.

:p

I looked at the plastic bag one. Looks ok. As long as the info is there for the customers, the site is doing it's job, imo.

Nothing wrong with HTML sites. Reminder: every CMS's final output is HTML...

Now, whether one should or should not use an ancient tool like frontpage - completely different question.

#1. Splash pages and scrolling *marquees* are so 1990s...

#2. Get a native English speaker to review ALL the text. Get rid of the flash or make them work properly. NO need for 2 on the same page. The calendar display is absolutely confusing!

#3. Framed sites are also soooo 1990s + automated music that cannot be turned off - totally idiotic idea!

It's time to ditch front page and go native. Static HTML sites are fine and can be the better choice over a CMS, but the source code that front page creates is horrible. Use Notepad++ or something similar (no Dreamweaver, either) and couple HTML with CSS. Your html will be minimal and CSS will provide all of the containers and styling elements.

Since the other 2 websites are in greek, i believe you refer to the resort's website.

The description there was made by the hotel's staff and they use it on brochures etc. Can you see something wrong with the english there? I don't think so.

What's so confusing with the calender ? It's a widget that checks the availability online.

Why shouldn't i use 2 flash in the same page ? And why you say that it doesn't work ? I 've checked the sites on a lot of computers.

If i had some *gifs over there, you would say that they are from 90s too.

So if gifs, flash and marquees are from 90s, what can i use ? The new modern plain text ?

I don't agree with you about frontpage. Frontpage might create messy code but you can still clear it later on. I would need a century if i used notepad++.

#3. Framed sites are also soooo 1990s + automated music that cannot be turned off - totally idiotic idea!
They 've asked for a soft background music, and they didn't pay for seo. That makes iframes appropriate

Thank you all for your comments. Keep in mind that the owners paid 100-200 euro for each website.

I have to agree with the previous post, I only read the homepage, but it is obviously written by a non-native and could definitely benefit from a rewrite. The sentence structure is very poor.

This is NOT the place where you should argue about every line of opinions about your website(s).

YOU asked for review - so say thank you and that's it.
If you cannot stand the criticism... don't ask for it.

A quick glance in another project of mine if you have some spare time about Poker Lessons. Even though is based on a popular platform, i totally reconstructed & interfered with almost anything.

You are right but that's the point, it MUST be poor. Booking.com does not use the official hotel descriptions, instead they use very simple (almost idiotic) descriptions.... FOR EVERYBODY TO ABLE TO UNDERSTAND.

YOU asked for review - so say thank you and that's it.
If you cannot stand the criticism... don't ask for it.
Standing the criticism does not mean that i cannot adduce objections.

In the website www.advisers.gr i excluded all iframes and also the music.

As you can see Mr. Istvan your criticism worked no matter what we say/write.

I really don't understand why you asked then! I wouldn't use that site because it looks like it's written & designed unprofessionally, therefore it stands to reason that visitors would think the operators of the site and the hotel itself are also unprofessional....make sense?

Booking.com is not written in broken English.

I think the lines in the video on Hotel site gets to be to much. I would do the lines in the first image then take them away after that. Just a thought.

Oh you write proper english for living that's why you dislike this text there.

I would personally consider more unprofessional a site build on wordpress, than a bad looking site on a unique design.

So speak for your self and not for the visitors.

Personal attacks and arguing after YOU asked for opinions = closed thread.
