Hey All!

Here's the thing. I have a very crappy website that is hosted on Homestead.
They have my domain hosted there too so I am kinda locked up there but it's time to get serious with my site and I need to find the place where I can find a good designer on a budget.

I know about odesk.com but I know there are other places to outsource that are much cheaper. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Try Elance and Guru.com. In my opinion, Elance is the best though.

I have used Elance and Odesk, and had good results with both. Odesk is usually a bit cheaper, but I find the quality is often a bit better on Elance, probably because elance users have to pay a monthly fee to perform jobs, which weeds out the less experienced workers.

I've never used Guru.com, so I can't comment on that one.

      Hope this helps a bit!

I would have said vWorker.com but they got taken over, Freelancer.com isn't too bad - it has a good "stock" of workers. But the fees can be a little expensive, also it feels like your levelling up on call of duty at times rather than using a freelancer site.

I work on the Facebook Client Chit Chat. Chit Chat is a Facebook chat application that you can use on your desktop in order to send and receive Facebook messages. It supports Facebook chat history, text formatting, sound alerts and much more!

Odesk is a good website but if you want lower rate with good turnaround you could also consider craiglist, agencies and connections(facebook & other social medias).

For web designs look no further this forum is a good source.

I would recommend oDesk and Elance.

Now a days, screening the applicants itself is taking hours on oDesk as any one can apply for any job there. In the first hour itself, your inbox will be loaded with tens of job applications. On the other hand, Elance has certain guidelines for the job applicants and you only get applications from highly interested individuals and companies.

Feature of checking the job history and feedback is there both on Elance and oDesk.

I tried Guru and Freelancer also, but I was not happy with any one of them.

Craiglist is also a good source. Also, one should not forget that the sections 'Warriors for Hire' and 'Wanted - Members Looking To Hire You' are available on WF

    Hope this helps.

Yee, oDesk and Elance are most used i guess. If you are looking for multiple designers on one project try to launch contest on 99designs.com or Designcrowd.com

    Hope these help

"Cheap and Good" doesn't go hand in hand. I doubt you will be able to find a person who is going to give you a stunning website for "cheap".

A lot of people who want to make websites always look for "cheap". They end up having a person who doesn't know what he is doing, brainwashes your mind with a tempting low price quote, and then you end up having a crappy website.

Now I am not saying everyone does it, but if you are looking for "cheap" you will get "cheap" not gold.

Elance.com and freelancer.com are pretty good sites if your looking to outsource and get competitive rates. These sites are highly respected and you can check sellers feedback, etc. before selecting your freelancer. They are very popular and active sites.

If your low on budget and want simple tasks (basic logo design, videos, images, html, content wrote, SEO, etc.) you may want to give micro job websites a try. Sites like fivestead.com, 5buckgigs.com, tenbux.com, gigbucks.com, etc. You can generally get small services for $5, sometimes a little more. You can still review feedback and see samples before ordering.

A combination of freelance and micro job sites may be the solution.

      Hope this helps. Cheers!
