Does anyone know of a WordPress plugin that would play background music once the static front page of a site is loaded?

Not having to click on a link but an automatic background audio as soon as the page is loaded.

I have been going crazy with various WordPress plugins and have not found what I am looking for.

A simple plugin that when a page is loaded music would be played as a background adding to the site's overall experience.

Quick Google search brought this up:

WordPress › Support » Add music to background on home page

Although if you are considering editing the code to add that, I'd suggest looking into making a child theme. Don't worry, it's much simpler than it sounds.

The music thing was done in the late 90's/early 2000's.

Not sure what your niche is, but in general, music in the background is kinda frowned upon these days. Guess you'll need to split test it.

The theory is that some people are at work, and so audio - like from a video or even just music starts blaring out of the computer and some can get in trouble for that.

Like I said, not sure of your niche, but be careful of automated music.

...Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just set there.

I think you are wasting your time personally. All it does is slows down the load time of the page and you will definitely have more people who hate the music than like the music.

I would instead spend your time on things that have more of a positive impact on your website. You need to remember a large proportion of your visitors nowadays are on mobile devices and tablets and moving about. The last thing they want is some music track blurting out of their device.

lol I remember those days opening a web page and then frantically trying to find the volume knob...lol

Mind you some of you may still have that problem with a few of your regular "choice" sites :-)

Well ya know there's TONS of web pages where the video starts playing with all kinds of audio being part of it, so in terms of lunging for the volume knob there's still lots of that going around.

To answer your question, I've used a widget instead of a plugin that works really well - you can set it to autoplay if you want - search :
