Setting an H1 and image next to each other in header without adding to each other?

The gradient isn't an image, it's background code. I want to have the header be the height of the gold seal image. I want to have the image to the left and the h1 text to the right of the image but I don't want it to add space either to the top or bottom of the header. How do I style that?
