Good question. Typically, in my experience, search engines treat subdomains as they would the main domain. What this means is that your subdomain may be looked at as YOURDOMAIN/subdomain as opposed to subdomain.YOURDOMAIN.

I use subdomains when I want to branch out my brand yet create a separate user experience from within the same site. I'm sure there are some Warriors who have had success with using subdomain vs domains and I'd love to hear what you guys experiences has been as far as SEO.

For now my advice would be to stick with top level domains if you're focused on SEO benefits. I've seen pages with no real SEO juice make money so it all depends on how you market.

    If I wanted to have a main domain example: blenheimmarlborough.com and then I wanted to list real estate companies under that would I be able to make a sub domain e.g.

    blenheimmarlborough.century21.com the century 21 being a real estate company and
    blenheimmarlborough.raywhite.com ray white being another real estate company and

    also be able to list other services such as:

    blenheimmarlborough.knightplumbing.com the knight plumbing being a plumber and
    blenheimmarlborough.kevinmorgan.com the kevin morgan being a plumber too.

    Is this a way to use a sub domain or would that be not a good use of a sub domain.

    Could I just keep creating sub domains under blenheimmarlborough.com and end up with 20 or more?

      As I said before it all depends on how you plan on marketing your site(s) but I'd still stick with purchasing top-level domains if you're going after SEO juice.
