The Blueprint of one of my most successful PPV campaigns to date..

This is a very basic ppv campaign, don't expect this post to be anything massive and too impressive

So I'm not going to go into extreme detail, but I will give away more than enough..

This campaign to this date was still one of my most strongest ever on PPV/CPV. I started off with adonnetwork for this one (I often like to play with adon for new campaigns as they have very cheap cpv rates). I picked an iq quiz offer (to be honest I don't even recall the name of it anymore and I have cleared that data out of my prosper database by now, regardless the exact name of the offer doesn't really matter) that paid around $10 a lead, it converted on a pin submit.

In google I plugged into various terms related to my offer (iq quiz, iq quizes, iq quizing, test iq, etc, etc), and then dumped all of the urls for the first 10 pages or so from the results into an excel spreadsheet. I took both the long version of the url (eg. theurl.com/slash/dot/page.html) as well as just the base url (eg. theurl.com), I dumped all of those for my keywords and applied them to my campaign.

For example, here are the keywords that come up now on the first page of google for me:
Code:
www.quibblo.com/quiz/yCMGli/IQ-Quiz
www.iqtestfree.net
www.quizrocket.com/iq-tests
www.coolquiz.com/life/iq/
www.iq-tests-online.com
www.funeducation.com
www.wordofmouthexperiment.com/dedpyhto/IQ-test-trainer.htm
www.allthetests.com/quiz26/quiz/1221888094/IQ-Quiz
www.gotoquiz.com/iq_quiz_trick_questions
iew.state.gov/quiz.cfm
www.webiqquiz.com

plus the shortened versions:
Code:
www.quibblo.com
www.iqtestfree.net
www.quizrocket.com
www.coolquiz.com
www.iq-tests-online.com
www.funeducation.com
www.wordofmouthexperiment.com
www.allthetests.com
www.gotoquiz.com
iew.state.gov
www.webiqquiz.com
The results were really good, a few urls were giving me a profit and 1 url was giving me a massive profit with lots of traffic. I'm not going to give these away, if you follow what I did, you could probably figure it out yourself

Once I had this going strong, I took the campaign over to mediatraffic and took all the profitable keywords and dumped them into the campaign. Again, just like on adon, media traffic loved this campaign and brought in even more traffic and profit - especially on that 1 magical url.

Now, I decided to take this to the next step and I brought the campaign over to trafficvance, and just like before, much more traffic and much more profit..

Now, it wasn't over for me, it was time to then rotate through a bunch of other IQ Quiz offers, no point in letting it stop there - eventually I think I tried 5 out, found my winner and even more profit.

After a few months the campaign eventually died off, but not before I made a killing doing it.

I know this isn't a "case study" or anything too impressive, I'm not giving away my exact keywords (it wouldn't do anyone any good at this point anyways).. but really it's a technique outlined that I've rinsed and repeated for other offers in different niches.

Thanks Chris! This is an awesome overview of how you built a profitable ppv campaign. I might have to give adon a try myself!

Give it a try, it might take a few different offers/niches/campaigns to get it going, this is kind of a "mainstream" methods now so you might get some saturation.. but it still works with trial and error!

So Chris, I remember almost of pin submit offer does not allow landing page, so you did use direct link in this case ?

Good strategy rather than going after iPhone, iPad related keyword which i think already saturated and expensive, this drive traffic directly to those looking for a quiz, questionnaire

This can also be used for other niches.. loans, credit cards, games, credit reports, e-mail submits, etc, etc, etc..

Just also remember - It takes trial and error, not every campaign will be a winner

    Very cool.

Excuse me if I am a little slow, but you used the URL's a keywords, correct? How did you figure out which keyword was bringing you that traffic?

For PPV, don't think of urls/keywords.. think of targets.. in most cases I exclusively use urls are targets instead of keywords - they are much more targeted

I am confused, to be honest PPV is *one* area i dont have experience with.

As i understand, PPV is as "difficult" (if not more diffcult) as PPC...and it doesnt come free either?

So..how do you make "a killing" on zip submits etc. which pay $2 on avg...with PPV? What is/was your investment to get the PPV going? I understand it needs LOTS of testing (so does PPC)...but just curious...

Ppv can be difficult, it just takes a different mindset than ppc

I'm not a fan of email submits due to the scrubbing, I'd rather promote offers that pay at least $5. Lots of testing is often needed but generally by te time you hit what your offer pays you have a general idea on the direction the campaign is going

Nice Chris, the makes me want to go back to CPV and only target higer paying offers.

By the way did you manually scrape all of your urls or use a tool, if a tool what was it?

It's so much easier to give away the details of a campaign when they eventually fizzle out But then again, I still don't like to give out too many details because when people know which campaigns are yours, there are normally ways to reverse engineer to see other campaigns you are doing

People understand that details of campaign are private....thanks for your share here Chris!

It's true though. I just want people to use it for inspiration and not actually just rip it, honestly if they rip it - it doesn't effect me. I've either already moved on, or I'll have all the targets and parting already figured out . It just hurts the people who rip it, chances are they won't make money off it and they won't learn anything

Do you find it better to bid on urls with or without the "www."?

Seems like with almost all forms of paid traffic comes some risk. It would probably be wise for people to do ALOT of reading and research before investing a single penny. Probably safer for newbies to stick with free methods like: forum marketing, blog commenting, and article marketing until they make some money and learn more first.

    Great tips chris..

I have been messing with PPV for the past few weeks and this really sparked a few ideas in my head. Another thing I might add is to TRACK TRACK TRACK! That is the most important part, so that you can remove the URLS that dont convert and keep only the ones that do!

Yes, without tracking you may as well just throw your money away (or give it to me)

Great post Chris thanks so much. I've just started dipping my toe in the water for affiliate marketing via CPV and I find this post very insightful!

One question re: the url targets. You mentions that you pulled the urls from the top 10 pages for various keywords such as iq quiz, iq quizes, iq quizing, test iq, etc, etc....

My question is, did you take the urls from the top 10 pages for EACH keyword or total? Just wondering if you start off targeting 100 urls or 500....thanks again!

just to let everyone know, taking the winner targets from on network to another doesn't necessarily mean that on every network will have success the same set of targets...just don't think this will always work for sure...

This is definitely inspiring for newbies like me! Thank you Chris!

I wonder something. You took both the long form of URL and base URL. I thought taking the base url is not a good way of targeting as it is too broad. Targeting that specific page related to your search is more targeted. Am I wrong? Or the best way to see is testing both.

Also, I read somewhere that it's not good to target more than one pages of the same URL. Is that correct?

    Thanks again for your shares!
