Default Same Content: article submission and website?

What's the consensus on whether or not you should use the same content that you create for your website as content to submit to article databases for SEO in-bound links?

Do search engines penalize you for this? Or can you simply duplicate your efforts this way by getting twice the bang for your buck on every article you write for your site?

Cheers,
Kudek

Kudek, there have been a couple of threads lately in the main forum where the consensus is that you CAN submit the same content to both your site and article directories without being penalised. And that the duplicate content thing is a myth.
The threads are: Has Anyone Been Successful With Duplicate Content? and Article on site or EZA first ?

Hi Kudek

This is a thorny one. Strictly speaking duplicate content is to be avoided because it increases your risk of getting penalised (probably not a Google, possibly page getting put into the supplemental index).

However as some of the posts than LynnM has sent you too show - many people seem to go okay with duplicate content.

I guess the rule is that as long as it is yours you can use it, or if you are going to scrape be judicious.

In the end for good backlinking the 'secret' is quality content.

For other info you can chekc Randfish interesting post on SEOMOZ.com:
