A Link Building Guide Can Be Beneficial
You might already have a backlinking strategy in place, but even so, a good link building guide can introduce you to some new ideas and techniques that could help to boost your Internet Marketing business.
I use a few different guides that cover a variety of backlink and traffic generation techniques. It’s not unusual to see some of the same methods being highlighted, but you always run into a few things you haven’t heard of or thought of before.
The newest link building tutorial that I received from one of my marketing mentors just last week highlights 30 ways to get backlinks as well as a few methods to stay away from.
Before I mention some of the recommendations listed in the tutorial, let me say a few words about website traffic. Most Internet Marketers know that traffic is vital and the two best free traffic sources are search engines and direct traffic from other websites that are very similar to your own.
The cool thing is that if you work on getting backlinks and direct traffic from other websites, it also helps you to boost your search engine rankings. The two go together very nicely.
One other thing worth emphasizing is the value and importance of using a variety of backlinkng methods. When you use a variety of methods, it covers you in case any of them fail for some unexpected reason. Also, the search engines are watching to make sure your backlinking profile looks natural. A good cross-section of links achieves the purpose, and you may be surprised to learn that this includes getting links on “nofollow” sites as well.
Okay, back to the new tutorial. Many of the common linking methods are covered, including Article Marketing, Social Networking, online business directories, RSS directories, blog directories, creating eBooks and reports and a variety of other methods.
Also included in this link building guide are techniques like the following:
- Link Baiting: Experienced marketers do this, but newcomers may not know what it is. Link baiting is basically creating content that people want to link to. Content like this can sometimes go viral – good news if it’s your content and it includes your link(s)!
- Podcasts: Convert some of your blog posts and articles to an audio format and submit it to podcast directories.
- Yahoo! Answers: Create a Yahoo! account, ask questions, answer questions and rate questions. To create a backlink, answer questions related to your niche and include a link to your website in the resource box, but make certain it points to a page that is highly relevant to the question being answered.
- Pinterest: Post your images and photos on this popular site and link them back to your website.
That’s just a sampling of the methods highlighted in my mentor’s new link building guide. The guide has reinforced the importance of some of the methods I’ve been using and it has made me aware of others that I really need to look into. Guides like these truly can be beneficial to your business, even if you are already using several of the recommended techniques.
