I read Joseph Sugarmans the Adsense guide to copywriting. It's great for fundamentals.

Paul Hancox if his mentorship is still available.

It is going to depend on where your skill set is right now.

It can be a steep learning curve, kind of like someone trying to teach you to play an instrument or to paint portraits, either you got it in you or you don't.

There is plenty of material out there if you are willing to apply yourself and study hard.

Some books that I like are;

Victor Schwab - How To Write a Good Advertisement
Richard Byan - Words That Sell & More Words That Sell
Dan Kennedy - The Ultimate Sales Letter

If you can find it and are willing to pay the price Clayton Makepeace's Ultimate Desktop Copy Coach is considered by many to be the "whole sha-bang". I got mine just last week, took me 3 months to land a set, it is huge.

Also on the web check out these sources;

Vin Montellos - Marketing... copywriting... and all things related to making your business more profitable. Be sure to grab Head-libs. Listen to the interview posted there a few days back.

Bruce Wedding has some good advice on his page at Copywriting Maniac - The Affordable Internet Marketing , he has a short and sweet guide to effective sales letters.

Google search "David Frey's 12 Step Fool Proof Sales Letter", as close to step by step that you can get,,,, but there is a WHOLE lot more than just filling in the blanks.

It's both a science and an art form to get it right.

One final tip, look for threads in this forum where others are looking to get reviews on their sales copy, learn from the responses of the experts here. When you learn a bit, review the copy first and then read the responses, see if they are close to what you concluded.

Good Luck

Just to repeat what I posted to your thread on 15th March last year:

I've just checked - you asked essentially the same questions on 7th November 2009 and on 24th Feb 2010, and on 15th March 2010. You also posted in the WSO I recommended - saying that you wanted to start the course as soon as you had the money.

You have to actually take action - continually asking the same question, presumably hoping that someone will recommend a magic pill just won't work.

My serious recommendation is that you find a way to get hold of $597 (borrow off a friend or relative?) and get the Paul Hancox course. He will hold your hand all the way through and if you work (not even hard - this man makes it easy) then you will easily earn back the course fee in less than six months.

As far as I can tell that course is the the best value, easiest and quickest way to get a start at a copywriting career.

but you have to take action

I like to keep an open mind, but not so open that my brains fall out

Phillip,

I have a new training course that starts on Monday. Ironically everyone who signed up is a copywriter (aspiring or struggling) instead of marketers wanting to learn how to write their own copy, so I'm shifting the training accordingly.

PM me for details or see my sig file.

If that's too soon, then I'd check into Paul Hancox's training as well as I've heard good things about it.

Regardless of what training route you go, you need to realize that becoming a professional copywriter is not a one-time training deal. You will need to keep honing and developing your skills. Otherwise, you'll never get to the point where you can consistently get thousands of dollars for your copywriting help.

Hope that helps,

Mike
