Can we use this post for posting tips & tricks using Adspy Pro...

Come on who is going to post the 1st tip>>?

Can I ask a question? :)

The program uses proxy IP addresses if you choose. The help section recommends some sites that list hundreds of "anon proxy addresses". I have never used these, and do not understand where they come from or how they work. You just copy some of these and paste them in and they work?

Thanks

ebeard,
Proxies are fleeting, here today gone tomorrow. As JP advises in the manual: unless you are doing a huge amount of keywords, you should not worry about using proxies.
But yes, the answer to your question is yes. You find them, then paste them into ASP. Then I would advise to you select them all and hit the check proxies button. Not all will work, as I said, proxies never stick around to long.
But that might be a good ongoing post here: Solid Proxies.

Hope that helps,
Rob

info-kenny,
I have a tip, but it's kind of obvious...
After you set up ASP and load your keywords into your campaigns, go do something else for a week. Write some articles, read a book, work on your site, whatever.
Give the tool time to gather the data. It can't discern a profitable ad in a day or two.
I am guilty of peeking in everyday, so I am not taking my own advice.
But just because I'm an idiot does not mean you have to be.

Regards,
Rob

I've only just set mine up and when I click on "Manage Proxy" I get an access denied error - anyone had the same error and solved it (while I wait for a response from JP to ticket logged)?

Good idea to post proxies.

Now I haven't work this one out yet but does Adspy collect information on all the other Keywords a specific ad is using without you having putting them into the keyword list within Adspy??

Anyone know>>

ASP only looks at the keywords you enter and all the ads running for the keyword. It won't give you access to your competitors keywords, but it will tell you who they are, what their ads look like, how many ads they have and the likelihood that they're profitable.

Does anyone else get an error message when you click on administrative settings within the program?

Everything else seems to work.

Also does anyone know the cron job command for hostgator, I asked them but told me to do a websearch for more info, real helpful but maybe that is the only solution.

Thanks in advance for anyones help.

Id like to respond to a couple of items in one post, so here goes:
Enormous, Have installed the new update released earlier this week?
That should solve your problem. If not, PM me and I will be happy to help you.
Info-Kenny,
No it does not, but neither does anything else on the market. Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi all,

I have fresh installed V1.02 (after deleting all old files), again with easy and successful install, but every time I try to access "Manage Proxy" I get this error (even with 777 permissions on proxy.php):

"You don't have permission to access /adpro/proxy.php on this server." (Where adpro is my install folder).

Any ideas anyone? Or should I try my other host account perhaps?

Cheers!

Robert

Robert59,
That's really odd. What hosting company are you using? Double check the permissions again and make sure that it stuck. I really don't think it's your hosting company. If everything else is working, it almost has to be permissions.
Anyway, unless you're doing a boat load of keywords, I wouldn't worry about proxies. I still haven't found any that work anyway. Maybe that's why I'm not worrying about proxies.

Anybody know of any solid proxies?

Rob

Hi Rob - yes it seems very odd when the rest of it appears functional (so far) - I'm just installing on another host to test. I had re-set permissions, but I'll try again, thanks for the help.

I'm just a little scared of being shut down, so I thought I'd at least try proxies -- then being the kind of person I am, I like to fix issues rather than give up!

How many keywords are you testing?

Cheers,

Robert

OK finished new install on my other host - now the "Manage Proxy" link works!

Must be some access issue on the other host. Both hosts are fully configurable shared hosts and I've never really had any difference between the two ... until today!

Hope this might help others. (I'm happy to name the hosts if that is OK by the forum etiquette. Or PM me.)

Robert59,
that's great news! Glad you got it working. Let me know if you find any good proxies. I would enjoy the anonymity as well, plus I would like to research more keywords. I am currently researching 839 keywords and it works great after only 3 days. Very pleased! Thanks JP!!

Enormous,
Did you get your ASP working yet? I have some time over the weekend if you need some help.
Hopefully you got it all ironed out.

Fulltime247,
Will securenetics only mask your IP or can you point it at your website IP? Sounds interesting if you can. Let us know.

I'm having a little trouble setting up the cron job on my hostmonster account, not sure what the command line should be. Do I need the "php -q" part? Do I need home/*login name*/ before public_html?

Any help is most appreciated!

Chris

Though it is different from one hosting to another, this is what works for me:

php -q /home/**cpanel_login**/public_html/rest_of_path

Good luck

I noticed that adspy pro uses www.google.co.in to monitor ads in queries.. do you think this will affect the results and usefulness?

If US users have chosen to only show the ads to US users they will not appear in the results, correct?

I'm curious why it was set up this way.

I also noticed that only google is setup for campaigns.. any idea when support for the others will be available?

I am still trying to get the script to even work, but in the end, if it pulls results from a non-US Google database it won't be useful to me as many of the inquiries I intend to research are in the US & Canadian markets. In most cases the advertisers will not advertise worldwide. I hope this is resolved.

as a follow up.. 1.02 which is up now on the site has google.com as the search mechanism instead of google.co.in

this file is no longer encoded so you can now change it to focus on your targeted user base. Much better idea.

The biggest issue i'm still seeing is the really unoptimized sql jobs. Every time I attempt to expand a list of keywords in a campaign my machine spikes up to 95% cpu for mysqld.. any ideas?

I was wondering if any of the veteran users could approach this issue within AdSpy Pro:

Alot of the affiliate landing pages are not being picked up from the software because most of the links are cloaked or redirected, so the software cannot pick them up.

Now you can go ahead and manually find the landing page on AdSpy and change it to "affiliate landing page", but then you have to go through all your keywords that the landing page may be on and change them as well, which is a long and tedious task. Anyone found any solutions to this problem?

When it works fine you should not get any email.

If you see details for how many ads running and profit signals for keywords then it means that your cron job is running fine.

There's a special tool that you can use so you can utilize the data after a day or 2. I call it the exploiter because it takes adspy pro to the next level.

Regarding keywords, does ASP use exact, broad. or phrase match? If Hoodia is a keyword will ASP deliver every instance of Hoodia in any Adwords ad? If not, how exactly does its search work?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Dave,

Using the tool you can:
Find out what keywords other competitors are using.
Find out which keywords are getting clicks.
See how much the clicks cost
and alot more.

Are you saying that Google is selling the advertisers' information like the list of keywords that they use for an ad?

kassaf,

that's not what I'm saying. I purchased Google Cash Detective which has a feature to give you cpc information and clicks per keyword not the actual advertisers information. The charge for that service is $0.057 per keyword, which I'm told is what Google charges for that same information.

Thanks for clarification.

This feature is not cruicial for losing money or time.

The real advantage feature will be to know the exact keywords used in a profitable campaign BUT I'm not expecting anyone to provide it since it is private info of the advertiser.

kassaf,

the beauty is that, it does give the keywords being used. I'll tell you what, pick a url that a Google ad is running and if it was running 30 days ago, I'll give you some obscure keywords that will pull up that ad.
