Hey Shellg,

I bought the book a few days ago. It made me realize that I've been wasting my time contacting wholesalers rather than manufacturers. I also didn't have much idea about what needed to happen if I made a purchase from the supplier. It has a good checklist to avoid some pitfalls.

It's only $100, not much if you're going to buy some products really. If $100 is a barrier to getting into business then you're going to have trouble making any real money.

Well no body replied so I searched Walter Hay's posts (Importexport) and it is obvious that he really knows what he is talking about so I bought his book.

The best word I can find to describe it is WOW! This is like a text book, except it is very easy to read and for a newbie like me easy to understand.

Its full of the most amazing tricks of the trade, and after reading it twice I found a manufacturer who gave me the most amazing prices on the little order I wanted to buy. Before I got the book I had tried to find a supplier of these things on Alibaba and DHgate, but now I know that the high prices they quoted me were because they are not the actual manufacturers. Walter's book showed me how to be sure they are.

The order shipped to me on May 1st - very quick - and I sold my first item the day I listed them on eBay. Imagine my excitement when sales came in every day or two, and thanks to a hint by Importexport no body else lists this product on eBay! Im selling the product at nearly 5 times my cost. Its now time to re-order.

Thanks a million Walter! You have saved me heaps of money and taught me how to get great profits. Any body who tries to import without your book is gonna lose out.

I have the book and have read it twice. It is not as easy as one might think, but with a bit of effort you can get over the learning curve. The only problem I am still having is finding the manufacturers, as he states in his book to use a couple of sites, but now it seems those sites are going the same way as Alibaba and Aliexpress and they are loaded with "suppliers" and resellers as opposed to manufacturers.

The hardest part of the whole process is to find actual manufacturers, I have not found one yet for the product line I want.

Thanks for your review. I appreciate the frankness of your comments. I am sure that’s what warriors want to see.

The sites you mentioned have always included some suppliers that are not manufacturers, but my book does explain how to use those sites' systems to easily tell the difference.

One of those sites will only ever list a supplier as a manufacturer if they have been thoroughly investigated and proven to be genuine manufacturers.

The other has a system that provides a report that clearly identifies whether or not the supplier is a real manufacturer. That report costs about $40, but in Chapter 8.2 I explain how to get the report for free.

Al, et. al. - CALL THE CHINESE EMBASSY. That's what they are there for. Embassies exist to facilitate trade, not just for international relations and expats.

MadeinChina.com lists manufacturers as well as suppliers.
GlobalSources.com, in addition to manufacturers and suppliers, has what they call China Sourcing Reports where you can perform due diligence on a mfr or supplier you are considering.

Just remember, if you have never dealt with China, be very, very cautious. If you are an old China hand, no warning needed. You're already missing parts of your anatomy and sit at a funny angle during trade negotiations.

Hi Annie, Have you tried calling the Chinese embassy to ask them to help you locate suppliers? I can tell all who read this that they will be wasting their time.

By "suppliers" I presume you mean traders? All B2B sites list traders as well as manufacturers. One of the important things I teach is how to be sure you are dealing with manufacturers - not with traders - otherwise you are throwing profits down the drain.

I also teach which sites to use where you can be sure that those listed as manufacturers really are just that. Most B2B sites list exactly what the seller tells them about that and there is no attempt made to see if it is true or not.

You mention MadeinChina.com, but that site has a terrible record for scams by traders listed on the site.

You said that GlobalSources.com has what they call China Sourcing Reports where you can perform due diligence on a mfr or supplier. They don't any more. But they do have Sourcing Reports on 7 developing countries, but far from helping you perform due diligence, this is what they offer in those reports: Click company names below marked Active to view verified suppliers and products featured on Global Sources Online. Companies marked Listing have basic information on Global Sources Online.

The problem is that:
1. They direct you to a few featured suppliers who are simply "verified". That means that GlobalSources have checked and confirmed that the business exists! That's all! Not much due diligence in that.
2. If you click on any of the companies marked Listing as directed in the cut and paste in red, you are redirected to the GlobalSources home page.

You mention the help that the book gave you in setting up the relationship with the supplier. This very important aspect of sourcing is generally ignored by so called "experts" and gurus-in-training who sell high priced courses, when in fact they might know something about online marketing but they know very little about product sourcing and importing.

I believe in sticking to my area of expertise, safe sourcing and easy importing, and I don't pretend to be an expert in marketing.

A warrior desperate for help PM'd to tell me that he had posted on this thread, and asked had I seen his questions. I followed the link in the Warrior Forum's email notification about his post but for some reason when I got here I found that it had been deleted. The post was a very normal one, asking questions that probably should have gone to my thread Ask Me Anything About Product Sourcing And Importing For Profit. ― Veteran Importer Here and I guess that is why it was deleted. I have now cut and pasted his questions from the Warrior Forum's email and posted them with my answers on my AMA thread.

I hope this does not break any rules, but I can't understand why they did not tell the warrior that he should post it elsewhere, so I have done it for them.

I feel sorry for people who have to start their business by stealing. With that mindset, their chances of success will be poor.

Here's an update on the low life who tries to get a following by giving away what he does not have any right to.

My book that he is offering for free is a very old version dating back to early 2012. There have been 4 revisions since then. Many of the instructions about the vital subject of safe sourcing have changed due to the changing nature of the industry.

There is yet another revision in the pipeline, due out early January. All those who have bought my book are entitled to a free download of every new edition. That is something else that thieves don't get.

Hey Walter, Great to hear there's another update coming! If you remember, I bought this directly from you a while back (probably before Nov 2014) and haven't been getting any such update notifications. I have since then also got Jim's PAC. So I was wondering do PAC members get notified automatically? Or does the link within the PAC automatically get the updated copy? I figured I would ask this here and not through support, in case other members benefit from the info. Cheers! Arun

I don't know why the post has not appeared, but as Arunsen wrote he posted here "in case other members benefit from the info." This is not promoting my book it is just helping keep the promise to my book buyers that they will get lifetime free updates even though my computer crash lost all their details.

Other members who have already bought my book will benefit by getting a free update, so I hope the moderators will allow me to answer here.

The answer is, Yes, PAC members will automatically get the update link for a free download. Others who bought prior to November 2014 should write to my support team at msteamwebmaster@gmail.com with details as shown in the quote above.

And a little birdy told me that the newest version is also currently on sale for about 75% off the normal price. I'm not sure if that information is correct, but hopefully Walt or Jim can confirm or deny that soon...

Either way, now's the time to buy a copy of this book. Sourcing where others can't / don't / won't is the only way to get ahead if you are doing any type of sales. And this version of the book (like previous versions) is a blueprint for SAFELY doing that sourcing. (Also, just because it has China in the title doesn't mean it's a one trick pony... Most of the information in the book is relevant to many other geographic markets!)

Finally, if you're already a member of PAC you can get your updated copy for FREE. Just log in to your PAC account and under the "Sourcing" menu, look for Learn To Import From China and Many Other Countries in the middle of that menu. (Just another reason why the Proven Amazon Course rocks!)
